A community may have a different mentality than the individual, so I was curious and made this thread.
How many of you approve of the battle animations in Gen. V? How many of you think they're overrated? Be honest and feel free to discuss throughout the topic, fantasize about how the animations look for your favorite pokémon!

I like them. Like Pokemon Stadium but 10x better. And remember, the videos we've seen are from beta games...so the final product'll look even awesome-er!!

Yeah, in options. But it just makes battles lame cause it's nothing but
A used Tackle! Opponent flashes and loses damage. I know Tackle isn't that great of an example, but things like Spacial Rend, Outrage, Draco Meteor, etc. look epic and I still don't get why you'd turn battle animations off just to save a second while missing half the point of the battles. Turning off the animations, might as well just be text-based adventure. |

Yes, because when I am going through the game I see Spacial Rend and Draco Meteor ALL THE TIME. None of the Rocket Grunts I face use Koffings with Sludge and Tackle NO, there are always diverse Pokemon with moves that make me gaze with awe at my DS.
Honestly, the moves are not that "epic" to watch in my opinion, and nowadays I don't like spending more time than necessary for something that is not even that great to look at. |

.>. Just using examples, sheesh.
Plus, the animations are what, 5 seconds max? You aren't wasting your life away by seeing them.
Spoiler Alert:

I very much appreciate the moving sprites, but I think it would be smart to allow a shift between static and mobile for people like Alakazamaster.
I'd also love to see a recoil animation when a Pokemon takes damage, and it would be awesome to see them lay down and go to sleep if hit by Hypnosis or something. Other status animations would be awesome.

Well I liked the old battle animations a lot. Didn't see anything wrong with them. I must agree with Zamaster about the moving ones being a bit more annoying to our sensitive eyes though. I think I will like them equally nonetheless. Can't say for sure until it actually comes out at the same time...
Nevertheless, I voted for the first choice though...
I'm a little iffy as to the battle movements, but I do like the full body sprites looking so amazing. I'm interested to see if they all just shift randomly, or if they actually give examples as to how the pokemon stand when fighting.
Ex. A Ditto probably doesn't have the same shifting from leg to leg/breathing as a legendary dog.

I'm not sure what to think about the animated sprites. I don't own pokemon battle revolution, but I've seen footage. I'm not to impressed with it. *hides from the torch-and-pitchfork wielding mob* I'd like to see unique sprites for when a pokemon gets hit by an attack, when a pokemon has a status affliction, and when they faint (as opposed to just being swallowed up by the ground). From what I can tell, it's just a looped movement that they perform no matter what is going on in the battle. However, the moving sprites might make it easier for me to stay awake while I'm effort training.

Sounds awesome, but I'm a little upset they use Legends like that. D: It's getting a little annoying to just hand out a Pokemon.
