A community may have a different mentality than the individual, so I was curious and made this thread.

How many of you approve of the battle animations in Gen. V? How many of you think they're overrated? Be honest and feel free to discuss throughout the topic, fantasize about how the animations look for your favorite pokémon!

I like them, but calling it late is like saying this game was revealed late.

So I guess this another poll that needs to be fixed.

Well, I think he means they should have been in D/P or RSE.

I like them. Like Pokemon Stadium but 10x better. And remember, the videos we've seen are from beta games...so the final product'll look even awesome-er!!

Optimism, it's what's for dinner.

I couldn't agree more with how since it's beta-version we'll be seeing more advanced and streamline movements in the final version.

This. The moving ones aren't terrible, but I still prefer the ones that don't move. Less annoying to the eye, in my opinion.

Yeah, in options. But it just makes battles lame cause it's nothing but

A used Tackle!
Opponent flashes and loses damage.

I know Tackle isn't that great of an example, but things like Spacial Rend, Outrage, Draco Meteor, etc. look epic and I still don't get why you'd turn battle animations off just to save a second while missing half the point of the battles. Turning off the animations, might as well just be text-based adventure.

Yes, because when I am going through the game I see Spacial Rend and Draco Meteor ALL THE TIME. None of the Rocket Grunts I face use Koffings with Sludge and Tackle NO, there are always diverse Pokemon with moves that make me gaze with awe at my DS.

Honestly, the moves are not that "epic" to watch in my opinion, and nowadays I don't like spending more time than necessary for something that is not even that great to look at.

.>. Just using examples, sheesh.
Plus, the animations are what, 5 seconds max? You aren't wasting your life away by seeing them.

Oh well, we talked about this before and I couldn't change your mind and I think Lite(or someone else) was there reinforcing my opinions. No use in trying and just starting a flamewar. /= However, gonna go make a thread relating to this elsewhere now...

Good idea. This is not the place for this, and if you did make a thread for it I would be happy to talk about my opinions there.

I very much appreciate the moving sprites, but I think it would be smart to allow a shift between static and mobile for people like Alakazamaster.

I'd also love to see a recoil animation when a Pokemon takes damage, and it would be awesome to see them lay down and go to sleep if hit by Hypnosis or something. Other status animations would be awesome.

I really like them. Me and my friends all love them, we can't wait! I'll be pre-ordering the Japanese version! I'll just make sure I use a better postage option this time...

@Battle animation conversation above: I turn my animations off when EVing. Makes it a lot quicker.

Sometimes the betas are better than the final version.
Like how Munchlax's sprite was better in beta than final one.

Well I liked the old battle animations a lot. Didn't see anything wrong with them. I must agree with Zamaster about the moving ones being a bit more annoying to our sensitive eyes though. I think I will like them equally nonetheless. Can't say for sure until it actually comes out at the same time...

Nevertheless, I voted for the first choice though...

I love them...<3 They make things seem so real!
But you know what would be better? If they actually MOVE as in like, attack. Raikou didn't do that when he was releasing a aura sphere.

I'm a little iffy as to the battle movements, but I do like the full body sprites looking so amazing. I'm interested to see if they all just shift randomly, or if they actually give examples as to how the pokemon stand when fighting.

Ex. A Ditto probably doesn't have the same shifting from leg to leg/breathing as a legendary dog.

im a little neutral on this topic.
the animations are a bit choppy but at least the creator can have his dream of making pokemon more action packed.
all i can tell is that the spritists are gonna have a little more of a challange with gen V.

The animation is a nice touch to the battle, having them not move makes them boring.

No, but having a panning camera and constantly moving sprites makes everything a lot more realistic/lively if you ask me.

Hyuk hyuk. And these aren't late, it would be impossible on the GBA, and you had all the pretty overworld changes in D/P/Pt/Hg/SS. Slow and steady wins the race (No, really. Pokemon is Nintendo's most popular series).

I'm not sure what to think about the animated sprites. I don't own pokemon battle revolution, but I've seen footage. I'm not to impressed with it. *hides from the torch-and-pitchfork wielding mob* I'd like to see unique sprites for when a pokemon gets hit by an attack, when a pokemon has a status affliction, and when they faint (as opposed to just being swallowed up by the ground). From what I can tell, it's just a looped movement that they perform no matter what is going on in the battle. However, the moving sprites might make it easier for me to stay awake while I'm effort training.

Yep, there's a Japanese event where you get the shiny legendary beast in HG/SS then trade it to B/W to unlock the Zoroark battle they showed off. :3

This has gotten off-topic, but it's for a movie promotion, they just do it to get more viewers I guess.
Plus, getting a shiny doesn't make it better than any other Pokemon, other than color, so it doesn't really matter much, however the shiny beasts do look really nice.
Plus, I've learned not to complain over free things.

Yeah, but giving a yes, no, maybe answer will make this thread dead sooner or later. But with all these amazing detailed animations, it'll make spriting a lot harder. I'm more interested in the attack animations. Some attacks are shown better than others.
