Victory Road closed on January 8, 2018. Thank you for making us a part of your lives since 2006! Please read this thread for details if you missed it.
This is just to state the standard rules for competitive battling which have to be followed at Victory Road.
So, if your going to battle someone, please refer to this thread beforehand.
Rule 1: No Ubers (unless it's an Ubers battle).
Uber's being found here: http://www.smogon.com/dp/tiers/uber
Rule 2: OHKO Clause. Although inaccurate, it's annoying... and I have seen my friend get hit by a Sheer Cold before when battling. ![]()
Rule 3: Sleep Clause. Give the person a fighting chance! No 2 Pokemon on the other person's team is allowed to be asleep at the same time. Exception: If the person used rest on two or more Pokemon, in that case, you cannot put other Pokemon to sleep.
Rule 4: Evasion Clause. Skilled trainers don't need evasion boosts to win... why do you think Koga always loses?
Rule 5: Species Clause. You cannot have 2 similar Pokémon in your team.
Rule 6: Self-Destruct clause. You blow up your last Pokemon, your just a terrible person. You lose anyway.
Rule 7: Soul-Dew Clause. Latios is banned in normal battles (being in the Uber tier)... but Latias isn't. Still, no Soul-Dew on it.
Rule 8: No Hax Items. Brightpowder, Focus Band, King's Rock, Lax Incense, Quick Claw, Razor Fang, Razor Claw, Scope Lens, Lansat Berry, Stick and Lucky Punch are all banned. Actually not really an official rule, this one is mostly optional.
Rule 9: No hacks! No hacked Pokemon. We don't want Spirtomb with Wonder Guard now do we?
Remember: these are the standard rules that have to be followed in any formal battle at Victory Road (tournament battle, gym battle etc.).
Some people, including Gym Leaders, might add their own non-standard rules to their threads. These need to be followed only in that person's specific thread and not outside.
Enjoy the battles!
Thanks to Shadow and The Spirit of Time for editing the rules and clauses!
I think belly drum + aqua jet is banned because its broken beyond belief not because it has 2 different egg moves.
But I agree about that critical hit ratio thing. Darach from battle frontier uses a razor claw empoleon and crits every other turn. >3>
Alsooo some people down at smogon are starting to figure out how to manipulate crits. O_o if you thought they were annoying before wait til people can start forcing them. .-.
I added the Species Clause, since it is one of the standard clauses in competitive battles.
Comments
-I have never heard of the "No 2 Egg-moves on a single Pokémon" clause, especially that it is not standard. Therefore, I think it should be removed.
-Instead of writing "Critical hit item ratio", you could simply write "No hax/luck items". Those items are: Brightpowder, Focus Band, King's Rock, Lax Incense, Quick Claw, Razor Fang, Razor Claw, Scope Lens, Lansat Berry, Stick and Lucky Punch.

I didn't add Species Clause because I usually don't see a lot of people who use the same Pokemon over and over again.

You got the Evasion Clause incorrect. Moves like Sand Attack and Smokescreen ARE still allowed, despite how under-used they are. This is because you can switch out of said accuracy losses, but if an opponent is using Double Team or Minimize you can't get them out without Roaring or Whirlwinding, and those could easily miss. Perish Song is also an option, but that is a move that is quite uncommon competitively.

*Dusts off thread*
This just in, Latias has been deemed Uber. :O
And Salamence is a "suspect"
It's all right here under "Bye Bye Laitas!"
