Since the poll on the other topic isn't working, I've made a new one.

You have three choices:

1. Take Item Clause off list of clauses
2. Leave Item Clause on list of clauses
3. Don't completely take Item Clause off, but modify it (and specify said modifications in a post)

This was a good idea, but what if not all of the voters from the last poll come to this one and different results appear? Then one could argue that the minority opinion is being established.

I'm disregarding all votes on the original messed up poll. They better vote on this one otherwise their vote goes down the drain.

Keep in mind, guys, that on the actual poll, 2 means Take Off Item Clause. I flipped the two around in the poll.

Anyways.

The reason why I voted to (and originally added) Item Clause was because people can use certain items commonly, like Shadow stated, BUT it can get out of hand. For example, one might equip a whole team of FEARS with... well... Focus Sashes. Something like that would be really broken. I MODIFIED the Item Clause so that you could use items with similar uses in the tourney rule.

The main reason the Item Clause exists is to prevent certain items from being spammed, so I put it into effect.

Since people questioned it though, I put it to a poll.

Eh, I suppose that's a good enough reason, but I can't think of too many situations where having a team filled with one item would ever be useful (except for Leftovers, those are always good.) Bulky wals wouldn't want Focus Sashes or Choice items, so if you wanted to win; having all of the same items would be a curse.

Sashes are useless with hazards up, so I say go ahead and make that team full of sashed pokes~! ;3

Ohohoho but Sunny you seem to be forgetting the ever-common Rapid Spinners! They fix the problem of entry hazars quite nicely.

While I agree on the similar items thing, I also think that berries are okay to have on more than one Pokémon, since berries are generally not used as much.
Also, should we ban certain items from the tourney? Soul Dew I know for a fact is out, but what about other things like the Adamant/Lustrous/Griseous Orbs? They do mostly the same thing, but for Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, respectively.

In specifics to those, those Pokemon aren't eligible in the tourney to begin with, but I see what you're talking about. However, things like Plates and Charcoal only boost your STAB by a certain margin, not like the Orbs do to the Dragon trio.

OH DUH. Why did I bring that up? Oh well, something to think about for May/June's 4th Gen tourney.

I say take off the Item Clause. I mean, what is the probability of facing a team which spams a specific item?
You could simply write: "Do not overuse any specific item" or something around these lines. That should do the trick, I think.

If I did that, then there'd still be an item law in effect, it'd just say "No using TWO of the same item" instead of one.

Come to think of it, that sounds good. I'll establish that law as a modified version of the Item Clause, called Doubles Item Clause. This is a Doubles tourney so I guess it fits.

Wait, so you can only have two of one item now? :/

It's a lot better than only having the one item.

Well I guess that's true. It won't be simple to work around, but I think I can still make a kick-butt team despite this rule!

EDIT: I'm going to stop being a whiny punk now, this rule makes alot of sense considering it's in Double Battle format. Plus Leftovers aren't as great in Dobule Battles anyway.

Very well then. I will remove the Item Clause and put up the Doubles Items Clause:

One may only equip two Pokemon with two of the same item.

It seems we have reached a suitable compromise.

I agree. The modified version of the Item Clause works perfectly in conjunction with the tournament.
