I have decided that, in order to increase posting OUTSIDE of the Games board, a new rule will be put in place:

If the Games board occupies over 50% of the forum posts, it will be locked until the percentage drops below 47%. In other words, please post more on other boards and less on this board.

As much as that does seem irksome, I agree on premise that way too much posting occurs on this of all boards. However, I would move to have the Text-Based-RPG subforum moved elsewhere if this policy is established, since it is less of a mere forum game than most of this board's content.

But perhaps making Games board posts not go towards post count would be an easier solution?

By the way, what exactly is the current percent of total posting that is occurring on this board?

At the time of this post the Games board takes up 45% of the total posts on the board. I have talked with Cat about not having the Games and /buizel posts not count twards your total post count, but we are going to let it be because it's not like you gain access to new forums or anything. This isn't so much that people are constantly spamming the Games board, it is just that we believe this should be a forum for having conversations about Pokémon, Mario, etc and not just having a text-only XBox Live.

Don't worry, this isn't just one single person's fault. This also because we know that if more people come in they will just continue so we need to lay down something now.

I will move the role-playing board out of Games if that happens. As for the post count, it still shows the real numbers everywhere except the user profiles if I disable incrementing the counter.

Jeez...now it's at about 50.5%. C'mon people, start posting elsewhere too. I know there are other forums where some people register only to post on the game board, but seriously there ARE other places to chat other than just spam the database.

Most of you guys should probably put up one post one the games board when ever you put two posts somewere else, that's what I do.

I hardly ever post there any more (after I spammed it with Luxray :/)
I make a post a day on the games board. I make about 200 posts on the chat though xD

Can we have some sort of percentage thingie on the site that will tell us this stuff? It'll help a lot.

EDIT: We should also delete the old games that nobody plays anymore.

And also those counting games.

Yes, you can count. Do you know who else can? 5 year olds.

I disagree with this, as I find no problem with them.

This is exactly why most forums don't have a Games board. Too much spam.

And I agree with Jared, we need to delete old games/pointless games.

No deleting. We archive everything ('cept porn and illegal stuff), so I think they just need to be locked.

I was thinking of some kind of system where posting outside of Games and /b/uizel gives you points so that you are allowed to post in those boards. Posting in Games and /b/uizel costs points.

That's actually a really good idea. Reduces spam.

Are you certain? Then we will have people making completely worthless posts in the other forums just to get enough points to post in games and /b/uizel.

Ugh... it is easily controllable by a person. He has to judge when to post in games and when not to.
I don't really find doing such a thing so difficult, but it just might be me.

Is posting in the games board give members post counts. If it does, then just navigate that and even if people post here, they won't get any post counts, thus they get encouraged to post elsewhere. Many forums use this strategy.

Also, about Jared's comment, we can easily warn and even ban spammers so don't worry about that.

I still say we should just not have the post counts in the games and /b/uizel not count to your total post count. People can play as much as they want but they don't get anything out of it.

Uh, Shadow and Spirit of Time can you take it easy on the game boards? A lot of the recent posts are from you two.

I am really very sorry about that. I got carried away and found myself posting in those threads without even noticing.
I have deleted some of those posts, by the way.

Okay, seeing as how I got into the trap as well, I suggest to remove post count from the games/buizel sections. This way, I can keep posting as much as I want.

I'm only back down to 593 though. Only 200+
