Okay, since I never saw this thread, I didn't know it existed...

Anyways, the 2010 World Cup kicks off tomorrow (June 11th, 2010) with the following matches:

-South Africa vs Mexico (16:00, GMT +2) in Johannesburg.
-Uruguay vs France (20:30, GMT +2) in Cape Town.

Who do you think will win from the two matches? Let's start the discussion!

Mexico and France.

Mexico is straight up good at Soccer.

I'm quite surprised France tied with Uruguay and England tied with USA. I expected the countries in bold to win. Also, the Nigerian goalkeeper was just amazing; he kept on pissing Messi off by defending the goal from his kicks.

I cheer for Brazil, Spain and England this World Cup. England not as much as the others though.

Actually, the game between Brazil and Portugal was really disappointing. It had a lot of fouls and it ended up as a negative tie (0-0). Moreover, the Portuguese players were better than the Brazilian ones, which was a surprise to me.
As for the Spain-Chile match, I expected Spain to win by a greater difference. However, it doesn't really matter since it already got qualified to the second round.

Anyways, the second round is going to be interesting, unlike the first one; Germany vs England and Spain vs Portugal are two matches I'm looking forward to.

Germany is doing amazing so far, Spain could use some improvements and Brazil is playing good, but not over-the-top. Spain is known to win with few goals. However, you need to remember that Spain isn't an easy team. It is definitely stronger than Argentina. Spain is known for its team work, and also, it is Europe's champion. In 2008, it won against Germany 1-0. Back then, I cheered for Spain, and now, I will do that same.

As disappointing as it is, Germany lost to Spain by a score of 0-1. The German team didn't play as great as it did in the rest of the World Cup. However, I'm not sad that Spain won because I originally cheer for it. Plus, it played WAY better than Germany in the match, so they definitely deserved to win.

Sorta the same reason I'm going for Spain (except I'm only 1/16 Spanish) I was going for Germany before (I'm 1/8 German) and Japan before that (3/4 Japanese), but as both of them are out, Spain is my only shot left. -_-

Now ten minutes in to extra time... And it's still 0-0.

I've got a feeling this may head to penalties... Which I can't bear to watch...

EDIT: SPAIN SCORED! Four minutes remain!

EDIT 2: SPAIN WIN! After 32 minutes of extra time, it's over and Spain have won!

Congratulations to Spain for winning the World Cup! Their performance, in my opinion, was amazing and they deserved this victory! I'm glad I supported them since the beginning, and I hope they maintain their high standards to reach even greater heights in the future. On a different note, my top 3 players in this World Cup were Casillas, David Villa and Thomas Muller. I'm going to miss the atmosphere of the World Cup and the excitement associated with it. It was so much fun.

I didn't really have any feelings for either team, but I was rooting for Spain a bit since I knew a cool foreign exchange student from there.
