They're saying it's going to snow AGAIN tomorrow. And then it'll turn into freezing rain. I may have a whole two days off. Geez, at this rate, this winter's gonna be way worse than 2010's.
I'm really, really hoping I wake up to more mountains of snow that will make driving a deathwish and commuting next to impossible.

That's how bad I don't feel like having to take my English class in the evening.

Ironically, the same statement applies over here but in the opposite way. So far we haven't had any strong RAIN falling (like usual), so streets were not flooded and schools were not closed due to that. Nevertheless, I'll still have my hopes high... >_>

I'm totally willing to settle for this over snow now too.

My teachers aren't expecting us to return until Friday so yesturday my teachers rushed through everything.

As expected, I don't have school today, but it's due to ice. It barely snowed at all. There's this one teacher (who I've never had) who apparently has a knack for predicting snow days. He said to my PA history teacher yesterday that we're gonna have off until Thursday. And he's been right all winter.

I doubt it. It might be a problem with the theme you are using. We specifically made the font in black, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Just splendid.

The only things I'll have to leave the house for today are to clean off mom's car and to make sure I have enough on my Metrocard for bus fare whenever I don't have a canceled class.

Also, newsletter made me cry considering how much Wi-Fi despises me.

Do you have to do a presentation also?

They use to require presentations at my school whenever they did Science Fairs, and I ended up skipping them my last two years in high school because of it. I'd go for something easy if you're just required to make something.

If your school would allow it, I'd go for trying to build a volcano and mixing in that Diet Coke/mentos combination. Call it "simulated cinder-cone eruption" if you can get away with it.

If not, then I suppose I'll be back at the drawing board.

As Spirit mentioned, you need to switch the theme you're using. We cannot make a newsletter which is compatible with all the themes which we have.

We do not have to create presentations, and we also cannot use your "stimulated cinder-cone eruption" idea since it's too simple.
But thanks for the help anyways (since we're both doing one project together).

Too simple?

There were some kids in my grade that presented stuff that had nothing to do with science. How is building a multi-cone volcano out of Play-Doh "too simple"?

Why not?

Because I apparently can't make a two-word post, I'm going to make this completely meaningless sentence. I also have to make a science project soon... I have an idea in mind *coughthatmymomgavemecough*. Don't know if it'll work, though...

Well, this is one of the most over-done experiments and is rather traditional. Our teacher wants things relating to Physics, such as thermodynamics, magnetism, solar energy, and so on.

I don't have any school tomorrow and on Monday we're going to tour the French high school in our division. In a couple more days we're checkin' out 2 other high schools, but I already know I'm not going to them. I'm getting my bilingual diploma thank you very much. And soon we get to pick our courses. Now the big question which ones to take...?

I know this is rather untimely, but I have serious need to vent right now. I need to transfer all my hatred to the computer right now, so I hope you bear with my rage.

Ok, so I'm at my after-school practice. I had to go there earlier than usual because my mom had to take my sister to a Learning center to practice for the ACT and SAT tests (I forget which, but that's not what I'm talking about). So understandably, I'm extremely exhausted from schoolwork, I have a quiz tomorrow, and I have to play in the Marching Band at a basketball game tonight, so I have a full platter on my hands. So, I was trying to get done as soon as possible.

So I start at English. I got to a new level not too long ago, and the difficulty kicked up about a thousand notches. Critical thinking, analyzing irony, drama, and prose, understanding Latin roots, understanding motives, etc. It's been killing me for the past few weeks and it already brings my patience level down to running on low. Luckily, today wasn't as stressful, and I was glad I might be out of that horrid place in a matter of minutes.

Well, hot da**, was I friggin' wrong.

Math. The horrible, wretched math facility with the so-called-teachers-that-don't-give-a-rat's-a**-whether-you're-stuck-or-not-and-let-you-suffer-until-you're-at-the-point-where-you-feel-like-crying-and-simply-dying-right-then-and-there. Today was especially annoying, and is the reason I'm writing this vent.

I've been doing this thing called the "Remainder Theorem" for the past month; determining the remainder of two monomials without dividing. They gave me two pages today, the first had four questions, the second had three. I did the first page, which stated that you had to plug in fractions to the original equation, then divide by the remainder found via the remainder theorem to get the answer. I was pretty annoyed, mostly because I hate fractions, and the whole thing gets really messy through cross-cancelling, LCD, and GCF. But I managed the first problem after about 5 minutes. Then that was where things all went to pot.

I did the next problem, approaching it the same way as the last problem, but I had no success. I was stuck placing random fractions in for about 10 minutes until I finally found one that worked, divided, and found the value of the equation. By now my patience tank was guzzling up the last bits of temper.

Last problems. Approached the same as the first problem, but again, no success. I walked up to the teacher; no help. I asked time and time again, but nothing ever worked. I guess it's to be expected from them. I did more guesswork and found the answers in another 11 minutes. Total accumulated time to do the first page: 26 minutes, way more than what was "expected" in one page.

I took the second page, and I had already given up on the first system. I decided to go to the main teacher for help, although she usually gives me some huge lecture on the problem. But she was the final frontier, and I was desperate to find a system.

I asked her, "Isn't there some sort of system to do these problems?" She dragged me over to the table she was sitting at, had me wait for a few minutes, then came to me. She showed me things I already knew, so I ushered along the lecture. She finally got to the plugging-the-number-in part, and she asked me, "So, what should you put in here?"

I stared at her blankly, saying, "I don't know, that's what I'm asking you. Is there a system to find the number?"

She said, "No, you have to guess."

I snapped then, and I was resisting every urge in my body that wanted to throw a chair at her. Guess? F***ING GUESS!? That's not math, that's bull! WTF kind of math is guesswork? How is guessing going to help at all!? I was ready to blow my a** off and go berzerk, but I had no choice but to go back and finish the page. Total time to do the second page: 19 minutes. Overall time for Math: 45 minutes of absolute, freaking torture. And they say this program is supposed to help.

Well, that's my vent. I feel a lot better that I got it out now, but I am seriously considering quitting. After all, if guessing is all they can offer in Math, then why the he** are we spending so much money to keep me in there!? Even now, I really want tear that page apart, saying that the math concepts they apply in those pages are bulls***.

I will be taking functions, calculus and all those next year. I know they are hard, and last year, I saw some Grade 11 students studying them, but I found them interesting. They should be nice to study, especially that my maths teacher is a good teacher. Currently, we are doing something related to polygons. When I heard about it, I thought that polygons are going to be as stupid and as easy as the ones I took before IGCSE. Now polygons were easier than other chapters we took this year, which made me scratch my brain, but even polygons had some hard questions. The thing is that I take Extended Maths, so there are a lot of questions that can be hard to figure out, even for the teachers. I still stand to my opinion though; graphs are the worst thing in maths and in life!

Regarding my science fair, it seems that Shadow and I are settled to do a project about energy fuels, comparing them and analyzing them. I still need to ask my Physics teacher if we can do this project since we will be burning the fuel, and the school might not agree on something like that.

They might be interesting, but they are definitely going to be difficult. Also, remember that in our Maths book, there are questions which are beyond IGCSE and the A* level. Therefore, it's no surprise that we, or the teachers, can't do some of them.

So anyone got any plans for this weekend or whatever?
Tomorrow I have to go to a birthday party for my cousin at the park, then I'm going to this like crazy pizza place for my other cousin's birthday.
The place is called John's Incredible Pizza. It's like Chuck E Cheese on crack. First of all it's so friggin huge, they have a buffet with like all kidns of food and dessert. Then they have like 12 different kinds of pizza. Some interesting kind are: Nacho Pizza, Buffalo Wing Pizza, and Peanut Butter Pizza.
Then they have bumper cars, bowling, mini golf, and this little twirling roller coaster thing. It's like so ossim.

So yeah, that's all I gotta say. I:

Let's see here...

Saturday: Go to Japanese School from 7:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. I don't have to wait for my mom to finish all of her teacher work which usually finishes at around 1:30 P.M aince my dad is picking me and my sister up. Get home at around 2:00 P.M. Have 3 hours of free time until Chinese New Year Performance Practice at 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Get home at around 8:20 P.M., when I'm free to do whatever the heck I want.

Sunday: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Yup, it's another exciting weekend in the life of GPFTW...sigh...

I have a busy week which is the reason why I don't post here so much. Celebrated Chinese/Vietnamese New Years at my Sunday school. We have a great time dancing (except me) and watching other kids' performances. I took pictures and will post in my album if anyone wants to see it.

I took a field trip with my U.S history class to the library for History Day. I hate the researching part though because it's a long process. The most funny and unxpected part in the field trip is the class plays truth or dare aand with the teacher. On Friday, I went to see the Odyssey and I like it except they drag on the end of second part. The Cyclop appearance was one of the best parts that I enjoy. After that, we went to see the ice sculptures in the park where they crave out statues and even a huge chair that you can sit on.

I went with Shadow and bought the prizes we will be handling during the Business Fair. I am glad that we are advancing through this hard job. I still need to start with the economics debate which is about improving food security.

We dissected hearts in biology today; It was pretty cool.

Also my scalded tongue seems to have lasted days now, it's pretty annoying >_>

I agree with you in that it is useless, considering how we got our mid-term report cards just one month ago. However, I felt delighted upon seeing that I got A's in every single subject. Still, I find no point in giving us these progress reports right now. -.-

1- We dissected hearts in the first term in Biology, too. It was a really interesting experience.

2- I really hate it when my tongue gets scalded. >_<

Well we had a very interesting week starting Wednesday until today. Most of the kiddies in my class went on a school field trip to go skiing, and were gone from Wednesday morning at 5 until today at about... I think they're getting back at 9.
For those whole 3 days all we did in our classes were play card games (except in French class, where we played the game of LIFE... in French A.K.A. DESTINS, which was so much fun,) and talk. Today however in cooking my group and I were doing a little cooking show, yes for marks, and we got the highest and group has ever gotten in my teacher's 20 years of teaching. I'm proud, because I can cook wonderful food while still being able to talk to the audience and crack jokes. :3
Greatest school week ever. Did I mention there were only 6 kids in my class all three days?

Today at my math class my leg brushed up under my desk. I looked at it a few minutes later and it had a lot of gum on it.

I am scarred for life.

You forgot something, under every desk in every high school there is at least one peice of someones already chewed gum because people don't care.

Yep, gotta love grabbing under a desk for whatever reason and feeling a nasty sticky goop on your hand. :I

Speaking of math classes.

I don't have one anymore. :3

Unless you count physics, which is like a math and a science at once.

Ew that's nasty. Was it on your pants or your leg? I remember once when I got some gum on my pantleg no matter how hard I tried it would not come off. I had to throw those pants out... :<

It's a good thing I'm prone to keep my legs turned away from the inside of the desk where all the gum is. Also, having 1 period to go to every other day rocks.

I wish could probably do that, I have enough credits at the moment that I can graduate just as long as I pass Government and English. Too bad I don't have a car nor does my school allow us having free periods.

I can graduate now, I got the points. But the Alberta school system requires Grade 12 leveled English and Social, and at least Grade 11 Math and Science. All I need to do is finish this term.

Sounds like me kind of. I'll have all of my credits taken care of next year except the ones for core classes. I'll probably get early release for senior year.

Yeah, thats what I did. I just figured it'd help me get myself straighted after high school ends. Better have spares in Senior rather than in Freshman like everyone else in my class.

I went into a serious argument with my mother just an hour ago about next year. Next year, it will be my IGCSE year, but my mother doesn't want me to continue and wants to change my curriculum. It took me a lot of time defending my situation and that I want to finish my IGCSE, but if my parents insist to what they want, I will be forced to follow them, and that disgusts me. Right now, I am so confused and discouraged to continue any of my work.

It's the same case in my school. I really don't know why students stick gum under their desks, but I know that I hate that. >_<

The answer of why is personal, but my mother wants to travel and that's the whole problem. I am asking her to postpone it until I finish my IGCSE, but she doesn't want to.

That must be a tough situation, then. Good luck.

Anyways, we have the annual Sports Day coming up this Tuesday. I have been selected to represent my in-school 'house' by running in the 100m race, and I feel excited but slightly nervous about that. Last year I came in second place (separated from the winner by a mere fraction of a second), but this year I'm hoping to get a golden medal.

Ah, good luck Shadow! I hope you win, and when (yep I'm being positive) you win, you have to take a picture of the medal! For our Track and Field/Sports Day we get to choose whichever sports we want to participate in (minimum of 3 , but the 400m is mandatory for the grade 8s and 9s. The 200m, 100m and long jump are my absolute favourites. ^~^

Thanks a lot; I will be sure to take a picture with my medal once I get one (if any ). Also, it seems like we both share the same favourites - I also like running and long-jumping.

Only in the middle east you can get sun burn in the winter.

Today I ended up forgetting my lunch, but I lucked out because it turned out that today we were having our trimester exam and we had to make a chicken dish. Mine ended up having the best skin.

Actually, you can get it when ever the sun is out. Sunburn has nothing to do with heat. I once got sunburn in 45 degree weather.

...And it's quite funny, that day was actually a Track & Field day that my private school district always did every April. It's pretty similar to what Shadow and Spirit did.

We have a three-day weekend due to a religious celebration over here, so I'm probably going to visit Spirit today or tomorrow. We're planning on watching "Gnomeo and Juliet" and/or "Just Go With it", whichever one is released in the local cinema over here. However, I have a lot of work to do during this weekend, so it's not all going to be fun. =/

...Bump?

Anyaways, I just came back from Video Games Live. Seriously, amazing show.(FYI, Video Games Live is a show that takes Video Game music and orchastrize[lol typo] it.)

They had some great ones, like for example, Sonic(2nd! ^.^), Kingdom Hearts, Zelda, and a whole lot of 8-bit games. They also had some Youtube videos there, like brental floss' Super Mario World, and daneboe's "vs." sereies(Sonic vs. Pac-Man, Contra vs. Duck Hunt). They also had a poem(Which was as follows: Roses are #F000C, Violets are #F000C5, ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US), and a really funny video of a person in a Ms.Pac-Man suit getting chased by three people dressed as the ghosts. It was an awesome show!

Today I found out that my group (consisting of four people, including myself) has qualified to the next round of the Reader's Cup, which is a competition organized by Emirates Lit Fest. We basically had to read four books and answer questions set in conjunction with the authors, and now our teacher told us that our group only succeeded. For the finals we have to read two extra books, then compete with all the other participating schools by answering harder questions made by the authors themselves. If we win, we will get to meet many famous authors and obtain signed books. I'm feeling really happy right now.

Whee I'm still alive here

In other news, a bunch of people and I threw a surprise birthday party for a close friend yesterday. 28 days late. His birthday was 28 days before the party. There'd be something wrong if he actually was expecting it. Also, I made a mockup of the cover art for "The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword" as a gag cover for my gift to him (a $30 Gamestop gift card). Then, I put the card in the game case in a shoe box in a Christmas box in a slightly larger box, and gave it to him. 'tis funny.

...if you wanna see the actual mockup, it's here. Be warned, though, since it's a 6.3 MB file. And it's slow.

It turns out most schools only have Febuary vacation so they can sanitize the schools.

I guess my district is happy when it comes to people getting sick.

I'm just coming back from vacation... in fact I'm in the car right now. I was in the mountains near Yosemite for the past few days.

I only had one day of school this week (today, FYI). On Monday it was a provincial holiday (Louis Riel Day) so everything was closed, Tuesday I had some workshop at some hospital (yay field trips), Wednesday I had a big track meet from 9:30-6:00 and tomorrow I have another field trip. Yay me. :3

I have a field trip tomorow too!

....Expect I also have a math test. D:<
Aside from that, I have Spring Break from March 12th to the 17th(I think). And my b-day is two days after that! Also, I have Spring FAIR on April 30th. Basically means I work my shift for an hour, then I go play.
YAY~

I will not getting much sleep the next night. Have to wake up 4:15 in the morning to get ready for the big event I have to help out. Too bad I hate drinking coffee but I can eat peanut butter with something to keep me awake.

So this week and the upcoming week are going to be extremely busy for me. On Sunday we have our annual Business Fair, then on Monday we have a Biology trip. On Thursday my school is holding a camp which I'm going to, and the following Sunday marks B/W's release date. Then we'll be holding a competition in school to celebrate Literary Week, and I'm responsible for running that. On Wednesday I'll go to the finals of the Reader's Cup, and on Thursday the annual debates will be held.

All in all, I definitely need to relax (and play Pokémon Black) in the Spring Break after all the hard work which I'll be doing. Wish me luck guys, I'll definitely need it. =/

I went to the gaming store today that I usually buy games from. I asked him about Pokémon White and he told me that here in Dubai, the games will be released after 3-4 days of the US release. In other words, I have to wait until the 10th of March to get mine.

Ah, havent been on this thread in a while. Anyway I'm trying to squeeze relearning 2 years worth of IGCSE Physics content into 2 hours, in a desporate attempt to study for my IGCSE mock exams tomorrow D:
Ahh Physics.. How I hate you so.

How have you guys been?
