I want to say that I've seen thousands of youtube and pretty much most of the victory road users hate FPS, how exactly do they suck because I've been hearing people rant on Modern Warfare like crazy.

Note: I've never really played a FPS except for Portal or TF2.

Please do fill me in.

Actually, almost everyone here (Like me) loves a bit of TF2. Most of us (Like me) do hate on CoD and stuff, some of us (Like me) like some Halo. I personally like the genre as a whole, though RPGs are by far my favourite.

And Portal doesn't really count as an FPS.

Hating on MW2 is a personal opinion. I prefer Halo. And I've never played TF2 but it sounds pretty funny, and I don't have 24/7 access to Steam nor a credit card (that I have permission to use) either.

Yes Ash, I already know what a FPS is, trust me. I've only seen 1 million of them out there.

People here talk about FPS's? o3o I know a few people here play TF2 and such, but I've never seen any bashing of them. I like FPS's, they're really fun. I think people hate on MW2 because it's so popular, and like Ash said personal opinion.

Spoiler Alert:

Looks like a paragraph for an essay I chopped together for school. Also, don't turn this into a flame war, even though I doubt it would happen.

I usually don't hate any FPS unless it deserves it. But I think TF2 isn't hated is because it's more community friendly, Unlike other games I've seen where killing someone automatically gets you called a hacker.

I <3 FPSs, but its a highly over-used genre. Also I like the CoD series. Especially World at War. In fact I made a Let's Play on it.

The only reason I ever hate on CoD is because to me, most of the weapons are repeats of others, or are generally uncreatively realistic. While yes, 12 different shottys might be accurate per time era, it doesn't make the game any better(not that there are 12 shottys, but you get it). 1 shotgun is enough for everyone, while a mini gun would make a nice addition. And of course, updates and unlocks are needed for me to not lose interest in my games. TF2 FTW!

Meh I don't mind the series as a whole, I just find too many of the game so similar. Perhaps it is my ignorance on the subject, but all of them just boil down to shooting people down, and are not really anything besides that. I like TF2 because it is far more team-based, and pleasant nice-guys like me can play support roles such as the Medic.

In my opinion, Team Fortress 2, Half-Life, Left 4 Dead and Garry's Mod are the only good FPS games. Games like Call of Duty, Halo, etc just really get annoying.

My opinion is that while I enjoyed the past Call of Duty parts, MW2 just got too repetitive, it also is infested with hacking people, and that cuts off more of the fun than the repetitive. Not that my word counts much,though... Apparently Team Fortress 2 has less repetitive gameplay, since you can always try new tactics with other classes, and see if they work out better against the team you're playing against and with.
Though I like this game, games I mostly am into are the cooperative games like Left 4 Dead and Alien Swarm, because it encourages sticking together rather than everyone playing his own style and rushing.

This. I like a good selection in weapons, but I don't like it when each one feels exactly like the other.

That and I prefer Team based combat over regular old deathmatch. It actually gets you to think how you can be beneficial to your team.(or you can be a griefer)
But Like Serenade has said, Weapons in these "Modern" themed games all seem the same, Probably because they all put the same thing on ALL the weapons. The variety TF2 gives makes it so that you would never seem like your fighting your clone with a slight Variant.
That and everyone doesn't go Sniper in TF2 and I love that.

Everyone going sniper is the most annoying thing.

And I wouldn't be too sure about the clone part, but it is more diverse.

Team > Deathmatch because you die less

We here don't HATE FPS's such as CoD, most of us (at least from what I've seen) just find them to be pointless.

Also, I would hardly count Portal as an FPS. It's a puzzle game.

I'd say it's a Puzzle FPS.

I would agree with Jared on that one, Since playing Portal in third person would be rather difficult.

Plus it's in first person where you shoot portals to solve puzzles.

I dislike a grand majority of them. They* all have a very similar koncept. I always preferred fighting games anyways. They are the ones that require real skill.
