Not something major, but I thought that it is interesting to share these news.

Nintendo announced that more than 1 million pre-orders of Pokémon Black & White have been received, "making them the fastest selling DS games in history!" Not only that, but they also expect the pre-orders to reach 1.5 million before the games are released.

Why am I not really surprised? The games bring forward a plethora of new, exciting features, and so it is only natural that people are anticipating them with little patience.
Anyways, those are amazing news. I mean, 1 million pre-orders for the Japanese games only? I wonder what's gonna happen with the American versions when they come out.

What is amazing that these are only Japanese pre-orders. There are still going to be the American release. I am just stunned and excited!

Wow, that's a helluva lot of pre-orders. And I'm one of them!

I'm expecting the American release to be around the same, because while America may be bigger, Pokémon is massive in Japan compared.

Let's just hope Pokemon lives up to those numbers. From what we've seen of Black and White so far, I don't think there will be any problem, though.
Now, for all those people that think you're lame for liking pokemon, you have numbers to prove to them you're not.

I highly doubt that B/Ws sales in America will ever get that high, I think that, at most, only 30,000 people will preorder the english versions, because Pokemon is not as popular in the states as it was back in 1999.....

Not surprising. BW is looking to be a pretty promising installment, and with how the game is "rebooting" the series (With having new Pokemon only, for example) I could imagine that people are hyped. I'm waiting until the US Release personally.

By the way, YOU FAIL.

How could you possibly think Pokemon isn't that popular in the states? I bet you anything at least 30,000 people in my STATE will pre-order B/W.

Who knows what the American pre-order numbers will be like... it might break a million.

Acordding to what Cat gave us, it tops a million preorders.

Also, yay! A re-boot that wont suck! (*cough Sonic 06 cough*)

Which is more than enough reason to believe American pre-orders will be over 30,000 (according to Masterge...).

Also, do the math: there are at least 300 million in the USA, according to Masterge, 30,000 people at most will pre-order. 30,000 divided by 300 million = 0.0001. Multiply that by 10 (to get percentage) which equals 0.001%

Why would less than 1% of the American population pre-order the fastest selling ds game in history, AS WELL AS the sequel to one of the most successful video game franchise in history?

I'd say at least 20% of the American population will pre-order B/W.

I really doubt that. *Does the math* That means about 60 million people will pre-order the American versions.

That's about 30% of 60 million, so don't expect the pre-orders to be anywhere near that number.

I'd guess between 800,000 and 1,000,000 people (.3% of the US population) will pre-order the American versions.

Hey, you never know what's going to happen in B/W. It might be the game that sends Pokemon to number one selling gaming franchise in history.

Well my estimate is that the fourth generation brought in a new surge of Pokémon fans, plus many fans from the old school era who are still sticking about (I'm not saying anyone left, because we are all true Pokémon fans.) is what equals this huge figure. In retrospect, figures for Call of Duty: Black Ops are exceeding a million as well. It's primarily the same reason to my estimation for Black and White. They predict, that Modern Warfare 2 brought in a lot of newcomers, and they are expecting a sequel that is exactly the same, only better. Anyway that's what I think of this situation anyway.
