Recently we've come upon a ton of people taking Main and turning it into /b/uizel.

Now, we need to reduce this, which is the [hopeful] purpose of this board. We need to stop the spam and return things to normal where Main is a fun, any topic [BUT SPAM] place and not spam or a dead chat.

Your suggestions are highly appreciated.

I can help by kicking those within the program not using /b/uizel, and by giving warnings out to those using the site chat.
If they don't listen to the warnings, I will resort to Infractions.

It may not work at first, but it will get the message through to people.

I strongly agree that this would be suitable discipline.

I think a simple kick isn't enough to stop someone, especially when they can post in Main without being on VRC. If we verbally ask them to stop, and they don't, we should issue a warning. And then tell them that they've got it. So that, you know, they know. If they continue even after that, then we should infract. If they still continue, I can't do anything more so I've gotta wait for someone of higher authority.

You know, since they don't go on VRC, we can just infract them.

I would think that a system of kicking where a mod can kick people without being in VRC, and where a mod can also go and kick people from the forum would be in order- it would be like a forced signout. If the users persist we obviously move on into infractions/bans.

Also, nonsense topics like spam that is promoted or taken part in by moderators (of course this is in regards to Main/Lounge) is unacceptable, and mods that participate in such activity instead of trying to stop it will be kicked from chat and warned verbally. If the problem continues it's infractions as always.

With our current forum chat system, I doubt something like this can be implemented. However, we can request for a user's forum chat privileges to be revoked by an admin. Its already been done before.

Also, once cat finishes a Linux and OSX version of the chat, we can most likely dump the forum chat entirely (We can debate on this later).

As for the other suggestions of kicking and infracting: It seems we've all pretty much agreed that we should be doing this. But the problem is getting the moderators to stick with this. I think there should be a way of logging a moderator's progress, much like the one we have for the forum.

Quite a few people use things like the Wii and iPhone to access the chat. I think we need an improved forum chat.

If we switch to Chatango, we will be able to kick and ban forum chat users. But I'm not sure about compatibility with DS/Wii and if VRC will be able to work with it. You may need to contact the company that made it for the latter.

We're reprogramming the forum chat.

Cat, I think there should be a button to infract chat posts. Like, maybe when we get the delete confirmation, a dialogue box shows that allows user to give infraction and also opt out of that for use of minor deletes. Once that post is infracted, it is then also make to only be visible to staff.

And I can't believe I'm considering this, but we should limit topic changes to only GMods, or select moderators. There's too much topic spam.
Yes, I admit I am the souce of a portion of this spam, but I'm the kind of person who can't really stop until the opportunity is removed, and I suspect that other moderators who do this may be the same.

I think it would be best not to place it immediately as "Post deleted. Infract user?" due to people accidentally choosing Yes when deleting several messages. However, I do think VRC could use a user menu when clicking names in the list instead of just asking to kick. Options like Kick (mod only), Infract (mod only), Ban From Chat (mod only), Ban From Forum (mod only), Private Message, and Visit Profile could be on there.

Having a different topic for each room is a planned feature (which loosely means anywhere between the next version and in five months), which willl hopefully prevent people from doing that to the real discussion.
