Are there any games that you like but sadly are also enjoyed by only you out of all of your peers? Any gems out there that you think 90% of all gamers have never even heard of?
My favorite game of all time is Descent 3. It's a dizzying 3D PC FPS from 1999 where you are in a flying ship (rather than being some dude running around the ground) and you have six degrees of freedom and can fly and turn in any direction. The gameplay is absolutely sick, multiplayer is awesome, and the graphics are kickass for its time (although consumers lacking the system requirements at the time was a real setback). If anyone is familiar with the Descent series, I'd be real happy. I'm super duper hyped for Descent Wiiware expected later this year.
Every now and then I break out my DS and play the first Code: Lyoko game. I've always been a fan of the series, so it's fun to play it. Unlike the Wii version and the second, sucktastic game, the first one is engaging and has a good storyline that details Seasons 1 and 2.
Unfortunately, I seem to be one of the few fans of the show in my school, so naturally not many others have played it.

Not too many people seem to play Kirby Air Ride. It's a really fun racing game; and a crapton of fun minigames as well.

I myself like the original fallout game for the PC, the story is dynamic and the ability to do whatever you want makes it a great game, but i can't seem to find anybody who shares the same passion for it as i do. Another game that I like that not alot of people play is The Harvest Moon Series its a great "Break" game as i like to say, meaning like.....say you play Halo or something and it gets kinda boring so you take a break from it or games like that but overall the games are fun i like the fact that you can start a family in them.
I've brought this up multiple times on the forums...
Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss
And it's sequel:
Ultima Underworld II: Labyrinth of Worlds
They're first-person RPG-like games with a medieval and mythical theme, in which you fight lots of different enemies, solve puzzles and win. I HIGHLY suggest you check them out. (By the way, they're now Abandonware)
I believe I'm the only person in my County that has ever played Nostalgia. It's an RPG for the DS that's a lot like Final Fantasy, only more airships, no chocobos, and you play in the real world. Like, the Earth. And the plot revolves around lots of real national monuments and myths like Easter Island, Roman Mythology, Nirvana Palace, the Pyramid of Giza (the real one not the inflatable decoy) oh, and Asgard. But no Thor...

I'd say mostly kirby DS games, not much people play them, oh and star fox 64.

Burnout isn't THAT obscure, but it's better than the other ones.
Now then, here's a good model: If your game is in a franchise that appears on this list, it isn't obscure.

Also, no recent stand-alones with lots of Fan-fare, like Spore, or Scribblenauts.
So, actually, by my logic, Monkey Island IS an obscure game, as is Shining Soul and Ace Attorney.

According to Sableyed's list, Mario Party is VERY underrated and so is Rayman's Raving Rabbids. I've played both of them and they aren't THAT bad but they're okay

Obscure? Shining Soul II for the GBA isn't obscure?
![]() Fine, obscure games you want, obscure games you get. I have, in my personal possession: Ray Storm - PSX Steel Battalion - X-Box Steel Reign - PSX Dungeon Master - SNES And a few other oddities. I am not "bad" at rare and naught-often-played games. |

.....Are you asking for really obscure or obscure because Kingdom Hearts is in that catagory....Alright, reallllllllllly obscure...Hmm....The Spongebob SquarePants Movie.
|
...Does LostWinds count?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qFbxm2Da4k
Note: Please don't overlook it, LostWinds is a great game when you play it, just don't overlook it by the trailer
Also, I have Little Big Planet for PSP, not too many people have a PSP soooo....
Cave Story.

Go play it! Choose the Deluxe Package, I promise you'll love it.
(that or buy the WiiWare version)
I know that Valve and most of their works are very popular in mainstream media, but I am amazed at the number of people my age who have never even heard of Half-Life or it's sequel.
Also, I once owned a game for the PC called Shining Soul II, but it seems to be a different game than the one for the GBA (or perhaps I'm simply recalling the name wrong). Whateverteh case, the game was a lot of fun, and I'm rather unhappy that I can't find it anymore.
Also, although the Bomberman series is pretty well known there is one game for the PC called Atomic Bomberman that a lot of people don't seem to know. It's basic Bomberman action, but the characters actually shout the most absurd taunts at each other. It was hilarious.
I'm also a fan of the Myst series.
I just picked up these two new games called Lux-PaIn and Monster Rancher DS. Lux-PaIn is kind of like Ace Attorney In the sense of Gameplay, but you play as this Secret Detective Person named Atsuki Saijo who uses a special ability called Sigma to read people's thoughts and Emotions in forms called Shinen. I'm stuck on this one part where you have to find this Girl in a certain amount of time.
It seems as if I'm the only one on the internet with Exitebots. ![]()
It's a racing game, but it's not your typical Kart, car, or plane driving. You race in a bot around some real-world courses, such as those themed in Canada, Fiji, ect. There are also these "?" switches that, when driven into, they can do stuff like changing the terrain to create a huge jump, make items appear, and if you grab a wrench (The bot has an arm it can use to grab items) your bot transforms so it gains legs. You're pretty much invincible, faster, and you send others flying when you kick them.
And the twist is that it's not all about getting 1st place. You have to gain stars by doing various tricks, etc. to win.
I feel like I've explained half the game, but it looks pretty rushed...
I play... Ristar and Ogre Battles.

I have Avatar: The Last Airbender for GameCube. I suck at it.

I play the Suikoden series of RPGs. I started off with Tactics. It was pretty awesome.

Conker's Bad Fur Day, I asked most of the mods on VR and they said "No". Underrated classic 3D platforming gem.
|
|
You asked if I owned it. I've played it. And a hell of a lot of people have played it too. It's just that we're on a Pokemon forum, not a RareWare forum. :V
On the other hand, I haven't gotten many people here to play Metroid. And if I have they're not a Metroid devotee yet. >:I Don't think anyone here played the Clover Studio/PlatinumGames + Capcom games either. Viewtiful Joe, Okami, and MadWorld are awesome. |
|
Hm...
Would Epic Mickey count? I swear I'm like the only fan on this forum.. |
|
>games you play that nobody else plays
>tastunoku vs capcom fail of the year all years |
|
IDK a title I was just guessing...*looks through a library of popular games to find one obscure one*
I think Star Wars Rouge Squadron and Fire Emblem: Path of Raidience are pretty obscure in their own ways. And Lite, what the hell were you on to think Viewtiful Joe and Okami were games no one played? They wouldn't be characters in Marvel vs Capcom 3 if they weren't popular...:/ |
I've started playing a relatively new indie game called Magicka, which sees you as a wizard creating spells and clearing levels with a unique spell-casting system with hundreds of spell combinations (ARSE mines, anyone?). While it's not a really obscure game, not many people here play it, and if you don't play it go grab it from Steam; it's only £8!
