ok first i will start by saying NON of these threads are against the forum rules i am simply stating my opinion and i will also state my favrite 3 pokemon out of the gens at the end to even it out i also beileave every gen was completely horrible at designs even the first ones so let us begin!!!:
#1 gloom:
i dont like gloom for a few reasons well to start off with... it drools i mean who wants a pokemon who drools and looks like it has down syndrom... gloom means sad or depressing... i can see why they called it this

ok this guy here makes me mad as a kid when i first saw misty catch him i was like wow... a rubber ducky seriouslly? and as the show went he'd get laughed at and use confusion on its opponet i thought phyduck would be pretty beast as a kid so in yellow version i got a phyduck and went against a trainer i used confusion and it wasent very effective against the bug i started crying only to be mocked by his 3 little black hairs i HATE him

ok this guy i have SERIOUS problems with ok just stare at its evil eyes they just want you to catch him and that smile... makes me want to puke because as he smiles theres a deformed shellder eating its tail and the fact that its pink isent helping

ok this guy is strong and stuff and looks at first glance like a decent pokemon but look at it one more time with me
first theres dratini a eel dragon thing who evolves into a bigger dratini known as dragonair who is beast but then evolves into dragonite who came up with this it make ZERO since what so ever

its a goldfish with a horn and a girls face with to much make up and dreamy eyes... i think pokemon is a bad influence on girls lol BUT HEY!!! atleast it shows what all human goldeens turn into with time seaking lol ugly

remember when i said diglett was the worst 1st gen design i take it back ditto is i think of him as a pkmn the creators made to reach 150 i mean who HONESTLY uses a ditto in stradigized teams ive personally tried... and failed

he is easily one of the coolest pokemon known to man even in the first manga he cuts a arbok in half... BΣΛ$Υ

the most brutal and most powerful pokemon known so far

Not against rules.

I personally found Voltorb and Magneton to be some of the worst. Jynx was also Eww from the start.

I don't really HATE any gen 1 pokemon, just most of them seem boring to me.

The only Gen 1 pokemon I really like are Dugtrio, Hypno, Hitmonlee, and Farfetch'd, and I wouldn't call any of them my favorites.

smoochum is in gen 2
swalot gen 3

I would say Voltorb and Electabuzz.I don't like their designs :/

To add to what Lite said about Pokemon having a purpose, he gave a very good example, actually. Magikarp evolving into Gyarados, would, at first, make no sense at all, it`s a fish to a dragon. But when considering Japanese mythology, it does. It said mythology, there is a sacred fountain which an arc going over it. Swimming in the well are a group of fish. If one manages to swim fast enough to get over the arc above the well, they`ll be transformed into a dragon as they cross over to the other side of it.


As for the Dragonite family. The first two Pokemon, Dratini and Dragonair, are based on the Eastern style Dragon depictions, with a serpentine body, where as Dragonite is based on the European Dragon. While never explicitly stated, this could reference Westernization of various concepts and ideas.

Bascially, yes, Lite was correct in saying all Pokemon have a purpose. Some are just harder to find than others.

My top 10 worst Gen 1 Pokemon:

#10 Psyduck: Too cartoonish for a franchise of Japanese origins

#9 Slopoke: What the hell is up with the name, it's so..... vague..... and it does almost NOTHING!!!!!!

#8 Magikarp: More like "Magikrap", they should hav thought twice before making this (or at least make it less crappy)

#7 Victrebell: Really, it's face turns upside down from it's last evolution

#6 Pidgey: IT'S NOT EVEN A FREAKING PIGEON!!!!!!!

#5 Gastly: Lame, and very unoriginal, it just looks like a purple fireball

#4 Venonat: Seriously, what is with it's evolution, and it has Butterfrees face too, very original Nintendo.....

#3 Diglett: It looks more like a cartoon character than a mole, and where the hell is it's legs?

#2 Mr. Mime: It's a clown, and a lot of kids are scared of clowns, you should have thought twice before making a clown Pokemon Nintendo, and you should have though twice AGAIN when you made it both genders

And finnaly:

#1 VOLTORB: Probably the most UNORIGINAL idea for a Pokemon in the history of forever, seriously, you could have done better with this Nintendo.......

i NEVER put magicarp as a bad pokemon because he was the first water type i got

Putting Magikarp down as a bad Pokemon would've made a lot more sense than you putting Dragonite down.
