Which do you prefer? I see some people who talk more in the chat than they do on the forums, as well as vice versa.

I prefer forums by far, since they are for more serious conversations and I have ample time to think about what I say before I post. I'm not the kind who likes engaging in rapid smalltalk. Chatroom conversations are fun to watch, though.

I'm a bit of both. I like to go on the forums to have serious conversations about things, and I go on the chatrooms for general chat.

I guess I prefer chatrooms because it's often hard for me to think of what to say in a forum even when I have an idea of what I want to say and even when I do think of something I often end up getting rid of it. In the chat I can sound as stupid as I want. :3

Definitely the forum for me. I think the discussions in the forums are better even though when I do go to the chatroom I have fun. Which was like, once...

You really, really should go to the chat. Not because I recommend it, but because I think that it's better for you.

I stick to the forums for a few reasons. One: I get plenty of time to type, so I don't have to worry about posting a hideous, grammatical abomination in an attempt to voice what I have to say. Two: I can't seem to find anywhere in the FAQ that describes to me how to use the chat, or what "chat full" is. Yes, I actually take the time to go through instruction manuals. I'm a freak like that. Three: I don't really stick out a lot, as far as I know, so it just feels awkward to suddenly jump into a conversation with people that don't know who you are.

However, I do get a kick out of some of the things that happen in the chat box. I once sat there for an hour just watching people talk, analyzing the general mindset of the conversation.

I like the forum better because it's much easier to deal with spam and the like. Sometimes in chat the topic derails and it gets really annoying and crowd control is a pain.

I love the forums, chat box is for when I feel like saying a few thibgs that would have no purpose in a thread. I like the chat too, because the funniest things happen. No matter what, I'll still like forums more.

Well, when I want to say something quick and meaningless, I use the chat room, when I make an announcement or voice an opinion of some kind, or pretty much anything that doesn't fit in 255 characters, I use the forums.

Note that I don't use the forums very much.

If you were on a forum with a chatroom (like this one), which component would you be more active in? The forum or the chatroom?

I'm more of a forums person, it's a little easier to tell who your talking to.

Forum. Better response time, more organized, better archival functions, less pressure, and you get to show off uber avatars and signatures.

EDIT: And you can edit/delete!

Forum. More time to think a respond since when I enter a chatroom (which is rarely) I wouldn't know what to write and also it's funny to see what people wrote on chatrooms.

Same here.
Chatrooms are more for, like, chatting, and forums are for… a different kind of chatting, if you know what I mean.
