I bought this game just yesterday on the Virtual Console. If anybody wants a difficult game, this is perfect! I went through about 250 lives in six hours, completing the first eight worlds without warps. I caught the whole thing on a videotape. The most ironic part is that the tape ran out right after the ending!

And a tip: NEVER--and I mean NEVER--attempt to play the first eight worlds without warping in a single sitting! I paused a lot and took advantage of the Wii's suspension option.

I've only played through like the first two worlds, but yes that game can get frustrating. And if you want an impossible challenge try Super Difficult Mario Brothers.

I've been playing Super Difficult Mario Brothers for the past two hours....

My head is going to implode if a ****ing mushroom doesn't appear soon.

LOL, this game is fun, but I'm not a real whiz at ROMs so...

I played Lost Levels on Super Mario Allstars for the SNES. Lost Levels is what Japan had as their SMB2.

It took a bit, but if you are determined platformer, you could handle it.
Syobon Action look cruel though, I love watching other people lp it on youtube.

I have the Japanese Famicom Mini version for GBA. Never gotten past 4-4. And I know all of 1-1's secrets.

Let's see: I played all those games(except SDMB) so I kinda get it.
I beat SMB2j, and it's qite fun.
IWBTG is IMPOSSIBLY HARD.
Syobon Action? Are you kidding? It's just IMPOSSIBLE.
But still, all good games.

I have played the game through both the All Stars port and the Super Mario Deluxe port. I have completed both without warps, but, well... I used save states. It was fun, though, and someday I want to beat the game legally.

Has anyone beaten this game WITHOUT savestates or warp pipes?

People have. People have done everything possible in every video game. But these people... They're nuts...

I've had SMB:TLL on Virtual Console for quite a while now. I play it with my brother: We each have one life until we swap. We're now at World 4, with no warps. We haven't played for months.

And... Err... This post is almost 2 years old.

I have never gotten to:
2-3
3-2
3-3
3-4
anything past 4-4.

Yes, I warp a lot.

Warps? That is child's play. Although I did use the Negative Warp that pulled me back to World 1 on purpose. What fun!
But Savestates? Yeah, alot. How else could I beat it? Normally? Ha!

All that my Famicom Mini saves is high scores... I WISH I HAD A SAVE STATE.

And whenever I'm at world 3 I use the backwards warp. When I warp to world 3 it's usually to see how long I can survive in a 1-1 1-2 3-1 1-1 loop.

I just got an SNES and SM All-stars, and... I got to world 5! WITHOUT a save state. Just with a bunch of continues.

Psh... played Super Mario All Stars on the SNES and out of all the Mario games SMB:TLL was the only one I couldn't finish. This game is hard. Xx; I got to world 8-4 and thought it ends there, didn't know there's worlds beyond that until I used an emulator.
