Ok, so I was playing a game WAY back (about 3 or 4 months back). I believe it was a Nintendo game.
But anyway, as I was playing the game, I realized something:
Nintendo has never released any of their characters outside of their systems!
I think the closest Nintendo has gotten to releasing on of their game characters outside of Nintendo systems, would be Pokemon Trading card game for the P.C. (Or something with a similar purpose).
I've also noticed Nintendo will freely let other video game companies' characters into their systems!
Examples:
-Viewtiful Joe of Capcom
-Leon (Resident Evil 4) of Capcom
-Call of Duty characters of Activison
-Sonic the Hedgehog of Sega.
-Frank West (Tatsunoko vs. Capcom) of Capcom
It's just awful....
I have a paragraph in me, but it won't be typed via Wii.
1) If Nintendo let Super Mario, LoZ, etc. on other consoles...why buy Nintendo's?
2) If Nintendo didn't let 3rd-parties make games on their systems, it'd seem like forever between 1st/2nd-party releases with nothing to play.

Because Mario or Pokemon on an Xbox or PlayStation wouldn't be right?

You know, when you think about it, Nintendo could make a lot of money if they allow Sony and Microsoft to use their characters.
Because there are people who have a PS3 or Xbox 360, but not a Wii. If Sony and Microsoft can use Nintendo's characters, Nintendo will be making more money by stretching their sales to Sony and Microsoft.
And besides! Once Project Natal is released, Wii sales will fall!
But those guys are NINTENDO's mascots, not Sony or Microsoft. Why would Nintendo give their characters on their competitors. Most people buy Nintendo's systems because they are the only place to get Mario, LoZ, Pokemon, etc. If they were available on everything else then Nintendo systems wouldn't sell.
Look at SEGA. They had their own systems such as the Genesis, Saturn and DreamCast with their own games like Sonic. Now they no longer manufacture systems and now you can play Sonic on basically everything. Nintendo and Sega were once fierce rivals, but now you can play all the latest Sonic games right on your Wii/DS.
Nintendo is a first party developer. First party developers make their own games for their own consoles. They own all copyrights to their games and don't publish them to other consoles.
Other developers (i.e. Capcom, Konami, EA, Sega, etc.) are third party developers. They don't produce gaming consoles, and they publish games to whoever's willing to pay for their rights.
Certain developers like Intelligent Systems, HAL, The Pokemon Company/Game Freak, and the like are second party developers. They are owned by first party developers and publish games for their consoles.
The reasons certain games are published for certain consoles is due to legality and common sense.
Yes. How is this strange? Why would Nintendo essentially sell their competitors' consoles, and why wouldn't they let third parties develop for their consoles? Most every commercial third-party game for a Nintendo console is licensed, so Nintendo makes money from the sales of games they didn't even develop.
I wasn't able to comment on these before because I was short on time and at school. Let me go in detail about all your discrepancies.

Oh I think it would be plenty right. Might even be better than Nintendo. Due to graphics and stuff....
Why a Nintendo character would be on a Sony console when Nintendo owns all rights to them as first party games makes no sense. That's just bad marketing. Why sell to your competitors? If that's the case, buy your competitors out. Because some people only have Nintendo system. Especially the little kids whose parents are concerned about violent video games on other systems. |

If Smash Bros. was cross-console then there wouldn't be a point to buying the Wii or other Wii games; same can be said for things like Halo, Kingdom Hearts, MGS, etc. Oh, and Project Natal is just a more intelligent PSEye, just like the Playstation Move looks like a clunkier Wii Remote. |
