I was looking at my Pokedopts in my signature and noticed a few of the new ones have spots on them. Gabite, Prinplup, Wartortle, Monfernape, and even an Abra I saw in Ala's siggy had random miscolored spots.

I had the same Problem, I still have it.
You mean those Black dots right?

Well, not black, just darker variations of the actual color they should be.
I know you make Pokedoptable images, so why not find out the ones with problems, get them up, then just use the eyedropper & paintbrush tools in your editing program of choice to do an easy fix.

Sadly, that problem doesn't come from the Images.
If it was, I would have improved them. My Versions are normal..
Then again it could be from the System?
Or maybe its like this because the system has to make the Backgrounds transparent..

We need Cats words here.

Hm, I never noticed an odd discoloration. Would you mind showing me the spots?

It's not on every Pokedoptable, but quite a few. It's hard to see far away, but close enough and it's obvious. I recommend comparing the Prinplup/Bibarel/Wartortle in my signature with the images Dilster posted, you'll eventually see the spots.(they're not in one certain place, just all other the image)

Oh, I see. It's a problem with the GIF color palette. Yeah, I'll try to fix them later.

Edit: Odd, it must be in the GD library. It's not in the original images.

*cough*
.png is better for statics
*cough*

Hmm, GD? What does that mean...? Well, if it's only one part, then copying & pasting from the other part should be even easier & provide an even faster fix. =D

I can probably have it output a PNG. The original software uses GIF, so I'm not sure if it would break anything.

Just as long as we can find a way to do so while not making dead images. I recommend doing both .png & .gif outputs, and in the BBCode page, keep .gif & .png present, but put .png at the top & point out it's better quality & any old Pokedoptables in siggys, etc. should be swapped from .gif to .png by the user to raise quality.

I can swap all images out with PNG. All I have to do is change the render type and purge the cache. (The cache holds close to 1,000 images, showing that at least a quarter of the adoptables are active in signatures.)

Oh, great!
That way we won't have to wade through our signatures changing file types.
Gonna lock this now that it's served it's purpose.(of alerting about the spottyness-isity.)
