Sure they might be remakes of the classic Red and Blue, but was there something you expected that wasn't as good as you thought about the game?

To be able to Espeon and Umbreon and the other Gen II evos that's what disappionted me.

The lack of refightable gym leaders, definitely.

I don't care if he canonically disappeared for 3 years right after I kicked his butt at Viridian. I want to refight Giovanni!

FR/LG wasn't all that great, mainly the storyline, and I didn't like the music (except the champion theme) and the inability to train your Pokemon easily. And I aslo kept forgetting if I was supposed to go to Fuschia or Saffron City first. XD

Coincidentally, my sister was playing on it once and ended up finding the Glitch Pokemon ?????????? at Lv.8. Odd.

I was never disappointed in the game until HeartGold and SoulSilver came out, when I saw such a good job that could be done.

...I did always wish the music was a bit more like the original even before the advent of the GB Player, and a secret base thing would have been nice as well. The storyline was still great, though.

First off, I don't get why people say a remake of Red and BLUE. It isn't FireRed and WaterBlue it is FireRed and LEAFGREEN as Red/Green were first in Japan.
The disappointing things are the lack of trade to RSE before National Dex, that's about it to me.

The Sevii islands was pretty boring once you explore all of them, not able to rebattle the gym leaders, and not able to evolve Espeon or Umbreon without trading to R/S/E.

Edit: Not to mention the training tower to be boring since you beat up trainers as fast as you can and you get items that requires trading in order for a certain pokemon to evolve.

The overall lack of aspects that were in the previous games. Plus several aspects from Ruby/Sapphire missing. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Ruby and Sapphire had the same game engine as Fire Red and Leafgreen. But if Ruby and Sapphire were released nearly three years earlier, how come many features such as time, berry trees, the two types of bikes and a larger variety of Pokémon found elsewhere in Kanto.

Its' because the concept of Water is much harder to translate into other languages, and Leafs and Fire are mush easier. As such, they decided that FireRed and LeafGreen were the best name choices.

No missingno glitch... nah just kidding.

I would have to say the overall grinding required just to stand a chance to some gym leaders... mainly from Koga and up.

Also, an unrelated note, 1,000th post! :O

Giovanni was horrible. Why would anyone want to fight him again.

Experience, of course. Why else would you battle someone again? For the story again?

The sevii islands were OKAY, but they could've been touched upon a bit more.
I'd give the game an 8, because it held what was good from red/blue, but they could've added more without changing what was already there.

What dissppointed me in LeafGreen is the trio legendary pokemon took lots of pokeballs to capture them all.

Lack of Johto was my biggest disappointment. Before it came to mind that they might make GSC remakes aswell, I was kinda ticked at their exclusion of the region. In GSC you first do Johto then go to visit Kanto. I would have loved to see what happens when it's the other way around, visiting Johto 3 years before time. The islands that were given as a replacement did not have enough surprises. That too was a big problem.

YES!

The idea is, everyone else will go into a deluded state of mind, repositioning themselves into a random point in the story. You must go through, and fight them all off again. They will have no idea what is happening, and once you defeat them they just... go away.

The music was what let me down. I spent ages thinking about how epic the kanto champion remake would sound but it was no where near as good as the original. Oh yeah, and mewtwo had the same theme as normal wild pokemon. That was just lazy.

I thought the games were epic. They were trying to stay as original to Pokemon red and green as possible. The games were pretty much for the older fans who didn't like ruby and sapphire and thats why you cant get 3rd gen Pokemon in the games (exept for deoxys and baby Pokemon). They were the original games ported to the GBA with some post game stuff. over all i'd give it a 8/10.
