I haven't seen this poll around in a while so I will re-post this. So yeah the title says it, DS Lite or DSi?

I haven't actually used a DSi before so I'm going with the original DS.

I love the DSi. I own a DS lite and DSi. The reason I like the DSi is because, I love the cameras, I LOVE the bigger screens. My favourite part is the Flipnotes. I use it to make AWESOME videos, mostly it is my pen and paper. I us it to jot down things like my VGC team.

The DSi is simply built better: the DSLite is prone to breaking. The only real reason to like the DSLite in my opinion is the GBA slot, which doesn't make a huge difference to me.

Well, considering the DSi is just a DS...with a lot of improvements, then the DSi is undoubtly better.

Would you really use the extra features? Would you miss tha GB slot? I do think you should get it if you answered "yes" and then "no".

I would use the features, and I can just use my Gameboy Advance for GBA/GBC games..

What Palpark and all of that?
I always thought DS lite was awesome, then I met DSi. You should really try one.

You can always just borrow a DSLite or something (which is what I do). The GBA slot never supported GameBoy games, anyway. So, I suppose if most of your games are GBA games then sure, but of my 30 or so games, only 8 are GameBoy Advance, and only two do I actually play anymore.

I like the DS Lite more; it's light and easily fits in my pocket.
Besides, I need the GBA slot for migration.

I do love my DSi XL. It's sexy. The cameras, DSiWare and the firmware do it for me. I don't really midd the GBA slot, and should I ever want to Pal Park I can use my DSLite (I couldn't trade it in - The hinge is broken on both sides and the L button doesn't work).

Okay. I own all four models of the DS. This includes the original DS, the slimmed down DS Lite, the vastly improved DSi, and the significantly enlarged DSi XL. Take it from someone who has used all four: The DSi (including the XL) is better.

The DSi can do everything the past two did and more. The only loss in this case is lack of a GBA slot, which basically just means that you can't use Pal Park. And come on, is it going to kill you to switch handhelds for a whopping five minutes just to import from Emerald?

What I really like about the DSi XL in particular is that I can actually grip it unlike the smaller DSi. The fact that graphics aren't stretched and in fact look almost clearer is also awesome. Oh, and the color looks awesome.

For the record, this post was made on the DSi XL's Opera Browser.

This seems like an odd question, since the DSi is just a DS Lite without the GBA slot. I don't even have a DSi and I think it is better, just because of the extra features and the fact that I don't really play GBA games.

I'd say that the ds is better, well for me anyway. I loved playing gameboy games ever since i got my first one on my 5th birthday, so when my gameboy advance got lost (somewhere in my parent's garage) i decided to get the ds over the dsi becuase im a gameboy addict. Also people say that the dsi has music, and videos and can take pictures. Honestly i don't care becuase i have a digital camera that is youtube compatible, and i have an ipod touch, so i have no need for a dsi. This is why i think the Ds is better than the Dsi. I have a DS lite actually but, i kind of guessed that by ds, you meant ds/ds lite

It's all up to a matter of opinion. I really like my DSi, and I liked my DS Lite and DS. I really think they are equal personally. The DSi did add some new features to the old formula, but I was a big GBA player myself, so it's kind of a hard tradeoff for me. I have adapted, but am now getting errors that I don't think I would have on the DS/DS Lite. The DSi Ware is a nice touch to make up for the lack of GBA slot. They needed to put the hard drive somewhere... Oh, and I would probably have my regular DS still if the top screen still worked. It still works as a GBA, but I gave it to my friend... Th^ Yacob. I claim full responsibility for his first Pokémon game.

As a basic answer, DSI is better. However, it isn't good enough for me to trade in my DS lite.
If you have a DSI(XL), Great! If you have a DS lite, you shouldn't waste your money on a DSI(XL). If you have a DS, you might want to upgrade to a DS lite/DSI(XL). If you don't have a DS, Buy a DSI(XL).

In short, DSi is better. If you want a longer answer/an explanation, read on.

The original DS (a.k.a. DS Phat) Is OK, with some good aspects to it compared to the others. The colors are a little washed out, the screens are a bit small. It feels a bit clunky, but that's kind of a good thing. But it's the one that brought a touch-sensitive screen to the market, basically the first of its kind.

The DS Lite, like the Game Boy Pocket and Micro, is a smaller and more expensive version of the original, with a few added gimmicks. Bigger, more well-lit screens, better color saturation, etc. They've changed the power button to a switch, and it always fells like your right hand will slide up while playing and you will turn it off. It's a smaller version of the original that costs $50 more.

Now the DSi is worth its price increase. For $170, you're not only getting every DS game playable and a camera. You can edit your photos and record sound. It also borrowed an aspect from the Wii, a shop where you buy minigames or applications, ranging from free to 800 DSi Points, or $8 value. With these, you can surf the Internet, create animations, etc.

The DSi XL? Nah. You're paying $30 more for what? Bigger screens. They're even the same resolution as the DSi's. And the stylus? You could easily substitute a pen for it. The buttons look smaller as well, if not squished up.

If you have an original DS, a DSi would be good, but it's not worth upgrading to a DS Lite. If you have a DS Lite, get a DSi! It's that good!

And in really short, DSi < DS < DS Lite.

DS for dual slots. You can't use Pal Park with a DSi.

I have an XL. Believe me, the larger screens (93% more than a Lite) really make a difference. It's also a lot more comfortable.

Why is there no option for DS Lite?

Anyways, the lite is better simply because it can also run GBA games, essentially making it two consoles in one.

I stopped playing GBA games a long time ago. And right when I got Diamond I migrated all of the Pokemon I needed over, so Pal Park isn't an issue. I don't think the inclusion of an old console is better then two cameras and essentially an app store. Plus the DSi XL is just plain awesome. It fits perfectly in my hands. For those reasons, I pick DSi.

I pretty much say DSLite, just to mention the pirating and stuff, but yeah, I don't like the updates and stuff, but when I get a DSi, I'll surely say DSi just cause of the new features and stuff, but yeah, I mostly say DSLite ATM.

First off, DS lite and DS are pretty much the same thing, the DS to the DS lite is like the Gameboy Advance to the Gameboy Advance SP.

Having said that, I prefer the DS lite to the DSi. I have a lot of old Gameboy games I love to play and without the dual mode I wouldn't have all of these pokemon.

It depends how much you care for the features and how much money are you willing to pay for.I didn't care for the extra features since I have a carmera and I have a lot of GBA games. Also I wouldn't care to update the dsi with bunch of stuff bacause I just want to play the games.

I personally like the DSi better because it has more 'clicky' buttons unlike the mushy ones of the lite. I also like the cameras and 'upload to Facebook' option that the cameras have.

I don't know if I'm the only one here who does this, but I actually use the web browser on mobile sites and such. Typing is a huge pain, but it's good for reading things on mobile websites. I mainly use it on mobile Facebook and M.Fanfiction.net (mobile)

There is such a thing as a DSi AR. It's more enhanced as well, such as not always pressing that down/up button on the AR to look for said game, also the DSi isn't "to high tech", it's just more enhanced (if not more, a lot)

Imo the DSi seemed more like a "filler" system then anything really, just something to occupy people's time while they worked on something better - at least this time they actually gave you a reason to buy it as opposed to like the Lite, which served no real purpose if you still had a working original DS aside for being smaller.
