I predict that in 10 to 15 years, game designers will just upload the dicionary and grammar rules into a program with a sound synthesizer, and the computer will choose what to say on its own.

Of course, there'll still be key plot points where the computer is forced to say something specific, but it's better than every enemy you meet saying "Imma keel joo" is the same monotone voice.

So, any thoughts on this? Projections of your own?

In the future, games will be played by combining the Virtual Boy/Wii Remote/Power Glove into a completely virtual enviroment.

The future of gaming
...is going to suck. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft are screwing with motion control and gimmicky devices too much, and by the next generation of video games...they won't even be video games. Sounds like Atari/NEC/Sega should make a comeback!

I'm positive that Handheld gaming will live a lot longer then console games, though. No gimmicky controls, just strait down to business.

How about having the games in your mind?

Oh wait you can already do that if you have an imagination...

We'll have to jump around the screen and they'll actually make us JOG in games.

Wii has started it-the Nintendo which I loved so much has actually been making us work to play games.

And now Microsoft and Sony have gone after it too. I just want a controler in my hand, a friend and a CD goddamit, not to jump around of the screen to kill a zombie or whatever foolishness will be next on the Wii.

I disagree with you. Games like Wii Sports Resort are not bad. Personally, I wouldn't want to sit in front of the TV the whole day holding a controller and going through levels. Some sort of physical activity in such games allows for a mixture of both.
Changes are always welcome, in my opinion, and I do encourage the combination of light physical activity with fun in some games, but not all.
Also, I do believe that you can choose whatever you want to buy, as no one is forcing you. If you don't like physical games, don't buy them.

*No offense intended anywhere, RG*

Now, returning to what I was going to say, I think that in the near future, gaming will evolve to put us in a completely virtual environment where we will be soon interacting and playing through games. Imagine holding a gun in such a simulating system

it would be like the matrix
in all honesty, I prefer button mashing to flailing about like a madman

Well, Nintendo does a good job at making motion control just another "button", but if people take too much advantage of the motion control gimmick then it'll definitely be horrid.

I personally think that Project Natal is a step into bad territory motioncontrol-wise, and as for the PlayStation Move, I highly doubt anyone is going to buy into something the Wii Remote -with or without Wii Motion+- has already done, and done successfully.

The Wii Balance Board could've been a step into virtual enviroment a la Natal, but thankfully it worked on pressure and not on motion detection.

In essence, I agree with Shadow's take on things, although I do believe that trying to take what Wii did and overdo it is a bad move on Microsoft and Sony's part, and I also hope that Nintendo knows that motion control will have its limits (I certainly think highly of Miyamoto and Satoru- they haven't been too wrong yet. It's Reggie ya gotta watch out for -_-)

It'll be like the Virtual Boy without the forced brakes, headaches, and red beams.

And also have eerything that the DSi and Wii has.

I like motion control, but I still don't wanna jump about. Seeing that I have a small tv, playing the Wii with the motion controls is a tiny bit more difficult to me.

Ah, I loved it when I could sit on the floor with my Gamecube and play Paper Mario TTYD 8 hours or more.

I'm no Miyamoto, but it maygo down hill. I can't see the future.
And if you don't like it, don't buy it. It's that simple.

Example- having to point the remote at the screen whenever wanting to collect star bits in Super Mario Galaxy. It gets tiring after a while. Still a fun game though.

Well, if you're good, pointing at the screen becomes a subtle reflex. When I'm playing an FPS and I'm aiming across a map, for instance, I hardly ever make extreme turns on the pointer or start crazily shaking the Wii Remote. Sometimes, I don't even notice I'm even pointing.
