Ik Minecraft was made with MS paint, but I always wondered how do you start?
I could take computer-aided technology in college.

I could start with flash games, or play with Unity and learn as I go.

Any suggestions?

Minecraft was actually originally made using the Java programming language.

A great beginner tool would be GameMaker. I used it a bit back in high school to make a few simple games.
