This is a nifty little Postgame feature. It generates a random type and three Pokemon based off your FC. With a max of 70, your friends can go into your safari and catch the Pokemon linked to you.

For example, I just went into Cat's safari and found a Wooper. He has Ground type.

I personally think it's a bit of a gimmick to get people to have more friends on their 3DS. I've already heard about what happens (and you know very well what I'm talking about, Rotom) when certain people get rare Pokémon like the starters and Ditto. If they made it work with provisional friends too (or just enter a code in the game itself), then I'd find it a bit less gimmicky, but still a gimmick nonetheless.

However, the fact that you don't need to stay friends at least is good to know, as my own friend list contains only the people I know in person. (Hey, I didn't buy a 3DS to socialize. I bought it to play games.) Anyone else is added only temporarily and removed after playing.

I added u guys, but your names dont show up. Also i noticed that i get a stat more often, maybe 1 31iv stat randomly? All i know when i catch a safari poke they always have likes to thrash about, the one for max sp.atk, alert to sounds, ect.

Found some good pokemon in Friend Safari but you need to register more people in order to get more zones, so um please remember to register me.

Best one I've had so far is Twiggy's i got a Rhydon and Nosepass

Add me, someone said im a bug type friend. He had psychic so i got Xatu with magic bounce. Oh and i googled around and they say u can breed Hidden ability if your pokemon is also a male with it.

Sure, it's a little gimmicky, but as a way to get max IVs (two per Pokémon) it seems worth it for competitive play. Or at least, it will be worth it when I find someone with a Ditto in theirs. I've got Ivysaur, Quilladin and Tangela in mine.

So apparently starters are just catchable now!?

Well, it appears as thought both Cat and Yoshi have got Wooper and Dugtrio in their Ground-type zones. Crazy coincidence! I'm going to need some more friends, as I've only got 8 different zones to visit, and it doesn't help that I have multiple zones of the same type. If anyone could tell me what Pokemon I have got in mine that would be phenomenal!

Apparently, Shinies are more common in the Friend Safari.

Cyrus has Pyroar and Ponyta.

I think it's the third Pokémon that's most important, but that one only appears once you have seen them online at least once in-game.

Oh, what might also be helpful is to bold and/or color the third Pokémon. That's the one that requires seeing the person online (in-game on the PSS) to unlock.

Mine/Yoshi's third Pokémon is Palpitoad.
Ningamer's is Quilladin.

Okay, I've made it to the Friend Safari and have explored it a bit as well; JDxImpetus has Ponyta and Pyroar (The same as Cy) as well as Fletchinder. Riodude92 (whom is a fairly inactive user here) has Dedenne and Jigglypuff.

Does anyone know if the friend safari is based off of the game or the 3DS itself? I have both X and Y, and thought I am nowhere close to beating Y it would be nice to know whether or not I am stuck with Machokes and Panchams for both games in my safari.

It is a hash of the 3DS Friend Code, nothing else.

I agree with this completely. But I'm not a w- erm, I'm not bad enough a person to go through with something like this. I'm glad that the Friend Safari even works in such a way that you almost always get results of your choosing. Even though you need the right friends.

I pity the man who maxed out his "Friends" List simply because his FC brings a Ditto.

I can't wait to get to post-game only for this. The kids at my college told me mine's is a Poison type... I'm just sitting here trying to think of anything good to come out of that except awesome future Crobats. <w> And then as Rotom mentioned earlier, I believe shinies are even MORE common here now (even thought the overall encounter rate was increased dramatically this game) since it seems way too many people have been mentioning they caught shinies in the Friend Safari. I need more 3DS friends so I can hopefully get all the types. :I

I haven't made that many friends since X and Y came out. I've just accumulated them over time since I've had the 3DS since launch day.

This feature might be gimmicky, but Pokemon has always been about meeting and connecting with people, right? In this case it's just selective and cheap.

To bad none of you here have ditto and Golurk in your parks would love to work up on of those which I didn't get a chance back in Black 2. This makes breeding and building a team a little easier.

A correction: my Friend Safari has Gastrodon, Wooper, and...Palpitoad? I can't remember the third.

Yeah kinda need to do breeding but I could probably go for that if I knew what his stats were.

Nice, I would be looking for 31's in HP, Attack, Defense, and Special Attack. He's to slow for me to worry about speed and he's an attacker so no need to worry about Sp Attack. If you could do that I'd greatly appreciate it.

Iron fist and prefer Adamant but anything that raises either defense at the cost of special attack or speed works for me.

Alright sounds good, not a huge rush since I'm working on other, unsuccessful projects, if anyone wants an Bulbasaur/Ivysaur with 3-4 perfect stats I will be able to kick those out pretty soon. Keep getting clunkers tossed in so that doesn't help on that front -_-

Well with a 31 in sp attack and Speed two stats I'm not going to use breeding is going to be as frustrating as ever because of a lack of a good ditto to breed with. If you can't get it to happen that's fine, I don't have a real use for no gaurd though there is a set for it. The defenses are more important since Golurk is so slow.

I finally beat the Elite 4 yesterday... For those of you on my friend list, this means my 3rd Pokémon has become available (and I'd appreciate knowing what it is)! Now, before X and Y I added like 40 people to my friend list from a thread online, and I now get to see what their Friend Safaris contain! Keep in mind, we all added each other even before we could have possibly known what we had in our own safaris. Turns out I really lucked out!
Here are just a few of cool the Pokémon I have access to in Friend Safaris:
Loudred, Marowak, Gabite, Druddigon, Noibat, Shellgon, Mawile, Floette, Whirlipede, Cloyster and Ditto. And I still have 21 Friend Safaris that I haven't had the time to check yet!

If anybody wants to "order" a Ditto from me, I'll get on that for ya... eventually.

Still annoys me how gimmicky it is to get Ditto. >_> I seriously hope they don't pull this crap in the next version (Z or whatever).

Yeah I have some good ones but there are many I'd like to get, ditto being one since I want to breed for a good Golurk and later for a Magnemit but I also would like a pokepark with Golurk and Gorgeogies and Whirlipede. So far no luck on either I admit.

Got a shiny modest pumpkaboo with max HP and sp.atk and its pick-up ability in a safari. After i ev'd it a friend wanted it so i traded to him. (And it was a good one too, though its ability shoulda been different)
