I figured this thread should belong in here instead of that "battling/trading" one, since it said something about requesting battles/trades...that stuff. If this is the wrong section, sorry 'bout that.

It's been a while (before DPP) that I've ever played Pokemon. My sister got Pearl recently, and around that time I was looking up a few things and discovered EVs. I'm sure I heard about it at one point, probably from my friend back in school, and after reading up on what it does, I felt like starting over, but not without saving the Pokemon I care about to my sister's Pearl.

Here's the problem: I got an AR for my Diamond for the sake of grabbing any possible event legendaries, 'cause I value collecting over battling. At one point, I tried to see if I could grab Arceus if I stuck in the "complete Pokedex" code, since Arceus first requires obtaining the National Dex. Apparently, I couldn't, nor could I obtain the other optional legendaries.
At another point later in the game, I got the Haunter from that lady in Snowpoint so I could get a Gengar when I transferred, then remembered about EV training and natures (plus, that name would cramp my other Pokemon's names). I've never had a Haunter until then, but it counted as caught in my Pokedex.

My question: if I transfer the legendaries to my sister's Pearl for future usage, will it count as "caught" in her Pokedex as well, and assume she can't catch them herself anymore?

On an unrelated note, EVs apply /only/ to the Pokemon that kills the opponent off, right, and not through, say, Exp Share?

I'm not sure I understand the second question, but you can transfer legendaries and still be able to fight them later on. This, however, is assuming that you don't use an AR on your sister's game, where things could be screwed up rather easily. Additionally, it will appear as caught in her Pokedex, but she'll still be able to catch it again.

I should warn that I've never tried this myself, so a second confirmation would be helpful, but the two actions are fundamentally different (trading a Pokémon and engaging in a Legendary in-game event), which is how I arrived at my conclusion.

I'm not sure I understood your first question, so I'm not gonna answer it. But, I have the answer to the second one:

No. They also apply to the Pokémon holding the Experience Share.

Example
Person A encountered a Staravia.
He sent out Pikachu.
(He has a Starmie on his team holding an Experience Share)
Pikachu defeated Staravia.
Both Pikachu and Starmie get 2 Speed EVs.

Ahh, I see what you're saying. I'm a little skeptical since my sister is a collector as well, and she's a little cold when I'm the reason for something going wrong, so you'll have to excuse me if I don't put too much faith in it. Thanks, though. :3

That makes things easier on my part for training the non-lethal Pokemon.
I can also safely assume that if I wanted to train something through putting it in the first slot and switching out, it will gain EV points, right?

This is the exact same question that I've been asking myself and others. Sorry, but till now I didn't see anything mentioning that. Unless you can find some piece of information which confirms it, I suggest you don't use the strategy.

Do you mean if you transfer legendaries to the other Pearl, will the legendaires still be able to be captured? The answer is yes, the pokemon you transfer over will be added to Pearl's pokedex, but the Pokemon will still be in the wild to be caught, so you would have two.

Ahh, okay okay. This answers all my questions, and I suppose it was just the AR that messed it up, then. Thanks, guys.
