I've just met the guy who gives these things out. They appear to be some form of achievement system, but I have yet to figure out exactly what their purpose is.

Achievement unlocked
First Step

Achievement unlocked
Dowsing Beginner

This thread will probably turn into a thread about getting help finding specific medals if that's the case.

I'll post what I have so far. Keep in mind, I have a friend with the opposing version whom I interact with on almost a daily basis, so I may have a little more then the rest of us.

  1. First Step
  2. Light Walker- Take 5000 steps on Unova land
  3. Middle Walker- Take 10,000 steps on Unova land
  4. Step-by-step Saver- Save your game 10 times
  5. Pokemon Center Fan- Kind trainers who let their Pokemon rest at Pokemon Centers many times.
  6. Starter Cycling- Ride the Bicycle (you get this in Castelia)
  7. Evoloution Hopeful- Evolve your first Pokemon
  8. Dowsing Beginner- Find a hidden/invisible item
  9. Smart Shopper- A medal for thrifty shoppers who made bulk purchases (I just bought like 10 pokeballs and a few potions) and got bonus Premier Balls
  10. The First Passerby (meet someone with your c-gear, just use your original BW for that if you're alone)
  11. Beginning Trader- First Trade
  12. Opposite Trader- Trading pokemon between two worlds. Whether this means opposing versions or from the original BW games, I dunno
  13. First Friend- Trade FC's via infrared
  14. New Face Hero- Medal commemerating the Pokestar Studios release of 'Brycen Man'

Note, these aren't currently in order.

There are like hundreds of medals for the simplest things. You get one after defeating every gym leader and for each important thing you do. You even get medals for the unimportant things you do. I forget how many I had in my Japanese Black 2 (A lot) but they give you new Trainer Card ranks, just like Pokédex and E4 completion. Unlocking a bunch of achievements and then collecting all the medals for them is FUN!

It's a pity they don't pop up right when you complete tasks like achievements do, but at least it gives you a reason to see the guy often.

Beginning Trader can occur over any trading mechanism in-game.

Opposite Trader must be between Black and White. The opposite color (either 1 or 2) will work, but the same color (either 1 or 2) will not. I tested B1 to B2 earlier, and it did not work, while W1 to B2 did.

First Friend just requires adding someone over the Pal Pad. I think you need to communicate with them.

I thought I'd share two rather silly medals I've obtained.

Magikarp Award - A Medal to praise the guts of Trainers who kept using Splash no matter what.

Never Give Up - A Medal for those who don't know when to quit even when there's nothing they can do.

The Never Give Up medal has something to do with Struggle.

I'm assuming 50, because the guy who gives you the medals keeps saying 50.
Here are some medals that I have that I'm not sure if they were mentioned yet or not:
- Sweet Home (Visit your mom often to heal)
- Vending Virtuoso (Buy at least 10 drinks from the vending machine)
- Noneffectove artist (Use noneffictive moves a few times)
- Supereffective Savant (Opposite of the above)

I'm quite proud of myself, I have 22 medals in total!

Could we maybe have somebody update the first post and add a list of the medals we've shared with each other so far?)

Complete 50 Hint Medal things and he gives you extra space to collect more. In Black 2 JP I have over 100-something medals. 50 is just like a checkpoint.

I see! Somebody should investigate on the internet how many medals there are. SOMEBODY has to have received all of them by now.

Your wish is my command. 1 Serebii trip later, it seems that there are 200 medals that you can receive. These are split in to 5 different categories, although the gold ones come automatically after doing the actual challenging medals.

The "ceremony" I think would be in a building on Gym Street. The one where Plasma was hiding in Black/White. That's where the Medal place was when I went there. Other than that, nothing else was mentioned.

- Feeling Master - I think you do five Feeling Checks
- 120 Boxed
- Dozing Capture - Use the Dream World
- First Cult Classic - Not really sure how I got a "strange movie," but it ended with a cliffhanger
- Veteran Guide - Guide 50 trainers in Join Avenue
- Egg Breeder - Hatch 10 eggs
- Participation Prize - Can't remember, but it's gold
- Pass Power ↑ - Use Pass Power
- Rookie Medalist - Collect 50 medals
- Wonder Writer - Save 100 times

I've got a few more that have already been mentioned or go with the ones above, with a total of 65.

Anyway, a few new ones:

Shop Builder - 10 shops in Join Avenue (yeah, you have to kick two out)
Mission Host Lv. 1 - Host 10 Funfest Missions
Subway Low Gear - Use the Battle Subway
Test Novice - Take the Battle Test
[REGION] Mightiest - Win the respective region's tournament in PWT
Participant Lv. 1 - Participate in a Funfest Mission
Good Rod Fisherman - Catch 10 fish with the Super Rod
Ruins Raider - Explore the entire Abyssal Ruins
Avenue of Fame - Change the name of the Join Avenue after leveling up enough
Indulgent Customer - Spend 1,000,000 Poké at stores
Sweet Home - Take a nap at home
[TYPE]-type Champ - Use only one type of Pokémon to defeat the league; dual-types are fine as long as at least one of the types is the type you're aiming for
One and Only - Defeat the league with one Pokémon

I got the 3 Medals that pushed me up to Elite Rank from beating the league. Grass Type Champ for obvious reasons, Fire Type Champ, and I only got that one as a result of shooting for One and Only with my prized Hihidaruma. So that got me 102 Medals, and the Elite Rank. The Elite Rank box is really pretty, too. It's this neato mystifying gray.

Time for some new ones:

  • BP Wealthy - Earn 100 BP.
  • Battle Virtuoso - Participate in 2,000 battles.
  • Mightiest Leader - Win the World Leaders Tournament once.
  • Archeology Lover - Resurrect a fossil.
  • Egg Elite - Hatch 50 eggs.
  • Frequent Trader - Make 50 trades.

I'm nearly halfway done (by count), but I know a lot of difficult ones are left.

  • Heavy Machinery Pro - Answer all 5 questions in the TruQ in Twist Mountain.
  • Tower Junior - Complete Area 5 in Black Tower.
  • 50 Victories - Defeat 50 trainers in Black Tower.
  • World's Mightiest - Win the Champions Tournament in the PWT.
  • Pinpoint: Easy - Clear Area 2, 3, 4, or 5 within 4 battles in Black Tower.
  • Quick Clear: Easy - Clear Area 2, 3, 4, or 5 within 100 steps in Black Tower.
  • Quick Clear: Hard - Clear Area 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 within 1,000 steps in Black Tower.
  • 360 Boxed - Use an Xbox 360...or deposit 360 Pokémon to your PC.
  • Shop Constructor - Create 20 shops in Join Avenue. (Expect to lose some shops with this one.)
  • Great Souvenir Getter - Get 50 souvenirs in Join Avenue.
  • Broad Friendship - Swap Friend Codes with 10 people.

The Shop Constructor line of medals is particularly annoying. I have to sacrifice at least one spot in my avenue for that medal, so I can only build up 7 at a time. Of course, it might be best to toss out anything I don't use.

They give you a charm that increases the rate of shinies. Of course they expect that. They're achievements, you're expected to do EVERYTHING. (It's a good thing I had my Shiny Accelgor from JP B2~)
Thankfully you can also get the Pokerus medals from both infected and cured Pokémon from trades.

Never mind, this isn't anywhere near as bad as it sounds. If you see all the Pokémon in the Unova Dex, you get a chance to catch a shiny Haxorus, and I know you get another shiny dragon gift later. Also, you can import Red Gyarados from HeartGold/SoulSilver.

I've got a long way to go to get all the medals lol.

Not all of them, there are a few that require more than two people. The Funfest Medals have a 10 people and 30 people in a single mission and whilst 100 points in a mission might be feasible with a few people, 1,000 certainly isn't. So unfortunately yeah, real life events like this are required. Should be fun though .

That's exactly why I made an event at a convention which I'm in the process of getting it onto the main London Expo website so hopefully as many people can come as possible. That way it'll be in the main book they give out and hopefully with many tens of thousands seeing it 30 will show up lol.
