Well, it's official now.

Personally, I think it's something that I actually can get behind - no frills, just Microsoft being itself with the squares, colours, and the typeface. What do you think of it?

However...I don't mind this new one, even though it's almost mainstream now.

I laughed. I expected something fancier and was surprised to just see plain windows as a logo. Of course, it is quite fitting, but the old one had a better touch.

Hmm... Windows 8's logo, anyone?

Yeah, they seem to be moving to a plainer art. This one resembles Windows 8 a lot, and both of them are plain compared to the old one. Even the conversion of Hotmail to Outlook, which looks plain and empty.

This DOES look a bit basic compared to previous Windows Logos. Apparently, even curves seem too over-impressive for standards today.

We've come a long way from the Windows I've known actually looking like windows with different colors of glass on them that used to be Windows 95 and up.

I like it. It's simple, and it reminds me of the OCD texture pack for Minecraft.

I like it. It's not trying to go with some random abstract direction, or trying out a complete overhaul.

It seems the new design that everyone is going for is plain and simple vector artwork, just like this. I've been noticing changes on various sites such as Google (note their new favicon), which is more... simplistic. I'm usually a fan of this type of artwork as I LOVE vector art, however, I must say I prefer the previous Windows 7 logo. I like it's waviness which made it seem... interesting. This is too basic. I guess they think simple is better but I'm going to say I'm not the biggest fan of this new look for them. I still love Windows itself though.

Maybe someday every company will have a logo that's just squares, circles, or plain text.

I can't imagine Apple having such a logo.

For a long time they have been taking 3 steps forward each time they even moved, now they just took about 6 steps back. This logo is cliche. They have gone with the "Simple" Route like many of today's tech companies. Their new logo seems like what they should have made back on the Windows 1.0

It seriously is pretty bad for something as amazing as the Microsoft company.

I like it. Simple is often easier and overall better. It contrasts well with some products (including Microsoft's old cluttered ways) that just try to show off too many features at once.

The color scheme and the set up is about the same as the old so, that makes it identifiable. Shouldn't be to hard to adjust to the new logo as its not entirely new.

From now on I'm going to confuse windows for Microsoft.

Thanks Microsoft!

I love that Logo. It's so simple, clean and easy to remember. Frankly, I like where this is going. [/late]

What about a rounded rectangle?

Don't you mean a rounded rectangle with a bite taken out of it? And a vertical-rectangle for the stem?

...It IS doable, after all.

This is... plain. And boring. They kept the same basic thing but just made it 4 flat colored squares. It's not interesting, it's just... colorfully blah. I prefer the wavy squares of the 98, that's my favorite logo. And startup sound.

I'd like to reiterate something here.

I find the logo extremely simple to make, and could be easily done in about a minute and a half. Because of that, I find that it comes off as tediously boring to look at. While I do admire simplicity and minimalism, I don't think Microsoft gets how it's done.

P.S. I wouldn't have gotten anywhere if I came up with this design.

I really like what Microsoft is doing for this new logo. It's simplistic, unlike all of the flashy, attention-grabbing, overly-complicated things you see today.
