Alright, I can't be the only Generation III Hoenn fanboy around here. I just had to know.

So who else is here?

I'm a Gen III fanboy. ^^
The Hoenn region is my favorite next to the Unova region. What I like the most about Gen III is how big the landscape is, going from volcanoes to dense forests to wide oceans. I know people complain about the water routes a lot, but I personally enjoyed them. Being able to dive underwater is another one of the reasons why I like Gen III. My last reason for liking Gen III so much is the difficulty level; I had trouble against a few of the Gym leaders and Elite 4, but they weren't impossible. In my opinion, RSE were games that had great landscapes and a reasonable difficulty level.

Johto and Hoenn are my favorite. The sprites and colors for Hoenn are riveting. And the story was cool too. I like how they introduced two evil teams that time. They changed it up! That is like how in Gen V You have two Rivals.

So yeah, I am a Gen III fanboy!

EDIT: I agree, the terrains and land were really cool and new. The landscapes they introduced in that game were great.

Gen 3 happens to be my favorite Gen. Although I played Gen 1 and 2 as a kid, I have the most memories from Gen 3

Suprised nobody said anything about the beautiful, calming Gen III music. It was probably the most relaxing and sweet sounding of any region.

Secret Bases were also awesome.

I'm a Hoenn fangirl! I actually had a bit of trouble with some of the gym leaders, it made the game more challenging and that's why I like it.

Count me in. I loved Hoenn. There were just so many expansive biomes, and with the larger cartridge space than prior games, it felt much larger. (Of course, after playing later iterations of the first two regions--and going through Sinnoh--it doesn't feel as large anymore.) Oh, and yes, I absolutely loved the music.

Hoenn was amazing as a kid. I liked the tropical feel of it. It had rain, it had heat, it had jungles. It had everything that was ever amazing.

I mean, how are volcanoes and lava NOT amazing,

Even though I hate Hoenn () I have to say, quite a few thIngs did stand out to me as better than every generation.
1- Diving. Not only was half the map made of water, parts of it were UNDERWATER. That is just so cool. It made me squee. And one of the cities is only accessible by diving? Oh yeah.
2- The music. Hoenn has my 3rd favorite soundtrack in Pokémon's main series. Lilycove, Verdanturf, Sootopolis, And Petalburg stand out to me. There's also my 3rd favorite Surf theme, really awesome Bike theme, and my personal ultimate favorites, the battle themes. Vs. Elite Four, Champion Steven Stone, Regi Trio. Yeah.
3- Things it started. Namely berry planting, contests, and the Battle Frontier. Those were my ultimate favorite things to do in Platinum, and it counts for 72% of my replayability. Without Hoenn, I dunno.
It's got good stuff, but I still hate it.

Personally, Hoenn is my favorite region for introducing such a diverse variety of landscapes and Pokémon (C'mon, you wish Fortree City existed). Just the amount of change it intoduced made my head spin when I first played it. Secret bases and the ability to play against your friends' teams after mixing records in their secret bases was a huge technological advance. The only thing I could never do was complete the Hoenn Dex; Milotic and Lunatone were the only ones I needed. I could never find a Feebas that liked dry flavors, and I didn't have a Sapphire cart to get Lunatone.

Hey, I grew up with Hoenn. Pokemon Ruby was the first Pokemon game I ever had, and I've replayed it over 9000 times. I guess since FR/LG are also part of Generation III, and I loved those games too. Always trying to go for an all-Grass Pokemon run was always fun, and challenging. Especially Steven's Skarmory. While I wasn't as big a fan of the music as some others, I did like some pieces, like Route 113 (running through the ash on the grass...AWESOME!), the Champion theme, the Sealed Chamber/Regi locations, Dive theme, Team Magma/Aqua battle theme, Verdanturf City, Sootopolis City, Regi battle theme, and some others. Fortree City was the bomb; too bad the Gym Leader wasn't a Grass-type gym leader and instead decided to give me more trouble with Flying.

Basically, Hoenn had such a wide variety of joys, that I loved it. I've played the game so much, the internal battery went dry. I've never gotten tired of it, even over the last nearly 10 years I've owned it.

Oh gee, I want to pick up Pokemon Ruby and play it again! FROM THE START!

Pokemon Sapphire and Ruby aren't QUITE a decade old yet. (Nov. 21, 2002 in JP, Mar. 19, 2003 in NA, Apr. 3, 2003 in AUS, and Jul. 25, 2003 in EU.)

I couldn't care less about the JP release, but I'm sure gonna celebrate the NA release.

...10th anniversary remake, maybe? I'd actually like to see that happen~ As much problems as I've had with Hoenn, I think updates would do so much good to it.

To show my fanboy-ness of Gen III, I made a remix of Route 104.

That's another aspect of RSE that I liked; the music was amazing. The Elite 4, Gym Leader, and Champion themes are quite good in my opinion. A couple of the route themes were also excellently composed, like Route 104 and Route 119.
As a kid in 2nd grade, I started playing Pokemon Sapphire Version and continued playing it until around 5th grade. I had great memories of levelling up my Swampert and Gardevoir to level 100.

My favourite generation was 3rd gen. I started getting into Pokemon around the time those games came out so I guess that's what made them stick with me.

I wouldn't say I'm a fanboy, but the way I see things, gen 3 was INCREDIBLY underrated.
I didn't grow up during the same time as some Pokémon fans, as I'm only 17, so Ruby played an important role in my life growing up. Ergo I guess it's my favorite, followed by gen 2.

Gen III was good, but the lack of things to do post-game is what makes me like Gen IV more.
In Gen IV, I loved the Battle Island. I figured out the perfect training spots depending on my Pokémon's moves and spent a lot of time training various Pokémon (Got the entire set of Saikyou event Pokémon up to Lv. 100. Milotic was by far the funnest one to level up due to only requiring 600k exp for Lv. 100.)

Though, on the other hand, Gen III managed to keep me interested long enough for me to train a shiny Linoone from ~Lv. 22 to Lv. 100.
The Battle Frontier was very interesting, though. I wish the Frontier in Platinum/HG/SS had at least the Battle Dome
(Related: PWT FTW Embedded image)

Contests in Gen III were also better, IMO. I thought the dress-up and the dance parts of Super Contests were kinda pointless.
Though the addition of three judges instead of just one added an extra twist to Contests.

Though if I had to choose between Kyogre/Groudon/Rayquaza and Dialga/Palkia/Giratina, it'd be a hard decision.
