If you have any suggestions to improve the quality of this forum, post them here. Also, if you have any board suggestions (adding/removing/merging), definitely let me know.
Please put any suggestions regarding the chat room here:

Things I will not approve:
- More smilies. There already are enough. I might even deprecate some.
- Changing servers/name. I've already changed servers twice and changed name once. The first server change is not something I want to go through again.
- Moderator/administrator promotion. Ask through PM or the Staff topic.
- New topics. Don't be afraid to make your own topic.
- Total rearrangement of the board. Two words: eight hours.
Things I might approve:
- Changing forum rules.
- Setting a topic as sticky.
Things planned:
- Adding more sub-boards.
Things I have recently changed:
- Enabled topic icons.
- Added smilies.
- Added additional themes.
- Changed signature policy. See Announcements.
- Changed forum rules.
- Added board images.
I really didn't know where to post this but- How kome klicking on someone's username doesn't take you directly to thier profile. It would make life easier. So far, it's the only thing I see wrong or bad in this forum. I know you kan track users down, but it would save much more time just klicking on their username and bringing up their profile like that...

lmao @ "Cat likes to give everyone he talks with a mod/assistant mod status" and negative post counts 0.0 hmm this is a tough one, you know how you changed the color scheme recently? Perhaps you could make different ones (maybe even with a different banner at the top) and in the UCP or somewhere else have a drop down menu where users could choose from the different themes. An example would be http://www.lugia.us/ they have a theme option on the right hand panel, but then again that's for the main page so I'm not sure if you could do the same thing for a forum ![]()
The forum is a Simple Machines one, and, as I don't have an account there, I can't see if it has different themes. But I know what you're talking about. I do have a few more installed, but they are disabled due to updating purposes.
As for the main site (and many other sites), a styleswitcher is not something I have planned soon, because I honestly have no idea how to make one (but I'd hope it's just a simple change of stylesheet.css).
that would be cool even though it would not apply to me until I get to be a mod. Next time I wont TRIPLE post 'cause the problem was I didn't know how to edit and I stopped using Luigi so much. Now I have good spelling and punctuation too. Anyway that is a good idea cat.
You should make a brag topic under tournament for everyone (mostly Pinky and I).

I have another suggestion. How about this. For every post, that's not in the Game Corner or /b/uizel of course, gets you some Pokedollars. You can then use these Pokedollars to buy things like exclusive adoptables, little symbols by your name, or other things. This just popped in my head a little while ago.

But Yoshizard's idea would be a massive coding project. I'd have to take two databases, which are currently independent, and make them interact with each other. |

Basically, it's a big Pokédex, with locations, base stats etc. (Just like Serebii then
)
BUT! Members of the forums can add any extra information to the pages, hopefully making the 'Dex even more informative than Bulbapedia! And you trust us people, right? You let up post news for the front page, and that hasn't been spammed yet (since I got here at least...)
Only problem: Bulbapedia already lets you do that. However, that doesn't mean that something like a forum Pokédex couldn't be started. Of course, only mods could actually edit posts, but anyone can reply with modifications. But it would be original. I haven't seen any other sites try it.
*points at self* Bulbapedia n00b!
Though it would take quite a few posts, with the maximum limit of 288900 characters. (Why so random? There's probably some obvious reason.)
OR you could do it like the Pokénews and have a separate page on the website, with a post for each Pokemon (and little [+] boxes so the page wouldn't get too big).
Just an idea though, and it's pretty flawed to be honest! ![]()
Hmm, I'm actually thinking about expounding on this idea. I think the character limit was originally lower. Someone wanted it higher so I added some numbers. Then it was too high (a thread in the garbage, Count to a Million, proves this), so I lowered it down.
But 288K characters should be fine for a Pokédex entry. Most (complete) Pokédex FAQs are only a couple times larger than that.
I have one suggestion...though I don't know how complicated it would be for you Cat.
You know how on Facebook you receive an e-mail letting people know you have replies for your status? Well, we have a mail system on this forum, so I was thinking there could be the option of a notification that your thread/post has replies after it.
Even harder would be to set so that you know there are replies and not that you have 15 messages in your inbox about all those replies, but it would make things really slick on here.
Again, I don't know how complicated this would be since a big thread could cause problems for the system to handle the number of posts going to all the different members. Could just be for threads you posts though.
Just an idea. ![]()

Oh, like the classic "RMT" Rate My Team boards?
Edit: Created
viewforum.php?f=152
I've been to a few other forums and most of them have a "quick reply" feature: a small text box at the end of each topic that lets you type in your reply and click post without having to go to a separate page to post. I kinda grew attached to this and after checking the user control panel twice I didn't see an option for it, unless I'm blind.
I was wondering if you could get the same thing into these forums, if it isn't a big hassle.

That would be a nice feature to have if I understand it right. Search vBulletin.org for your idea and see if you can find it.
Just please don't ask to customize profiles. Too much abuse there.
Cat, I noticed something minor that you might want to change (if you even can). On the chatbox at the top of the homepage, when you scroll up to see the previous posts, and someone posts something new, it automatically takes you back to the bottom. This can be very annoying when you are trying to read something someone else has said, and people keep posting new things. I just thought I should bring that up.

I have 2 things from another site I go on.
User titles basicly something to write under the user name or avatar and people with infraction aren't aloud to change it and banned users have it in Japanese. Blog entires basicly photo albums without the photos I guess. |
|
We should have an Arcade section, there could be a tournament sticky and threads regarding the arcade could go there.
|
|
I won't be allowing custom user titles at the moment, but maybe I will in the future. The Japanese thing is pretty clever.
CloneCharizard suggested the blog feature a couple months ago. It's not all that difficult to add, but it could be another thing for staff to have to moderate. |
|
A) Doesn't almost every forum in the world enable custom titles?
B) Well, there shouldn't be anything wrong with trying and either failing/succeeding. Unfortunately, the only official blog add-on is costly. |
|
Absolutely not! That makes the forum look like a playhouse.
|

|
I agree with this. The more serious, mature profiles really strike my fancy and give the forums an air of class.
|
Name changes must be performed by sending me a PM along with a reason. The less active you have been and the closer the name is to the original, the more likely I will accept a name change. For your number of posts, it may be best to begin by asking others to call you "Armed Floatzel," so a sudden name change will not cause confusion.
I believe using a single
,
, XD,
,
, or whatever else is a suitable response in the chatroom. Because talk is typically fast-paced and coming from multiple directions, it's easier for most people to post "
" than say, "That put a smile on my face." As for posting them on the forum, they definitely cannot be used alone with three exceptions: /b/uizel, Game Corner, and to answer a Pokémon question (but these ones typically should also have the name written out). As for the recent spread of the licking icons
, I'm not sure what to say about those. When they appear, it seems like either everyone joins in (including mods) or everyone ignores them; for now, it's fine like that.
The width will not be raised above 650 anytime soon for sure, pretty firm on the height at 200. Signatures are meant to be little representations of your personality, not giant image walls that guests and anyone who didn't disable them have to scroll past every time they read a post of yours. If you can't express yourself in 200 pixels, use spoiler tags.
As for Freeze, I know his signature is too tall. He's an admin, so it's not like sticking the FIX tag in there will be the nicest awakening.
I meant like having a bigger text limit. I think now it's 2000 characters including BBCode, but me (And quite a lot of people) want it higher. Since we can hide it under spoilers I see no problem with it, really. It doesn't have to be a big increase, maybe just a few hundred characters.
As of now, there is a limit of 100 posts per page.
