Serebii.net has posted with information from a trusted source saying that two new event Pokémon will be coming to the U.S. for Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. The first one is the Pikachu-colored Pichu that will be given out near the end of the month. This Pichu when transfered over to HeartGold/SoulSilver will allow you to get the Spiky-eared Pichu in Ilex Forest. The second event is for a special Jirachi at the end of February. This Jirachi will unlock a special course for the PokéWalker called Edge of the Nights Sky. Again, these are not 100% confirmed but are still likely due to the release of HGSS in March.

UPDATE: Serebii has confirmed that the Pikachu-colored Pichu will be available in the US. It can be downloaded January 30th to Feburary 14th at GameStop. This Pichu can be downloaded to Diamond Pearl and Platinum. The Jirachi will also be available at GameStop at a later date.

That's great hopefully I can get both of them.

I wonder why they didn't do the azure flute event in Japan yet?

I wonder why they decided on the Jirachi. Probably because Japan got the Nintendo-Zone one.

Is this following any sort of historical trend? Arceus surprised me, and I don't remember there being large-scale giveaways of event Pokémon like this before in the United States: most of the events always seemed to have taken place at the Nintendo World Store. My only concern about this being...

Spoiler Alert:
Don't you need a Celebi in order to unlock the special scene/battle in HG/SS? I don't recall Celebi ever being given out at any time past Gen II.

The same question that dwells my mind right now.

What I care about is whether it is via Wi-Fi or not as I don't live in US.

I noticed TPCI has started to gear their events more towards Wi-Fi like TPC Japan so, for your sake, let's hope these are through Wi-Fi as well.

If they are WiFi, won't that make them the first WiFi events for Diamond/Pearl? I hope so - My Diamond is from the US, and I want the spiky-eared Pichu.

@Green Liquid

Spoiler Alert:
Wasn't there a Celebi even for Emerald? And that 10th Anniversary one?

Yeah, I lived in Berlin for three years and missed some of the US events. Luckily the Secret Key and various other events were over wifi

I'm not sure if you were thinking you could get it in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, but the Spiky-Eared Pichu is only programmed into HeartGold and SoulSilver.

Ningamer, if you want a GameStop Pikachu-Colored Pichu, I could provide you with one.

Oh well! Now I won't be able to get the Pikachu colored Pichu! I hate Nintendo...

Same here :@

But my question is: Isn't the scenario of the Pikachu-coloured Pichu and the Spiky-eared Pichu important for the plot of the games?
If the answer is yes, then I'm guessing there will be a Wi-fi event of the Pikachu-coloured Pichu later on.

No it is not. It is just a side event where you get the Pikachu colored Pichu to a specific place in Ilex Forest. There, the spiky eared Pichu will just appear and become a member of your team. It isn't strong or special in its power. It is just different in shape and nothing more.
