I only found out recently that "mousepads are dead" and that "nobody uses them" from a few friends. Is this true? I certainly don't see any reason to not use one. Plus, how could you hate a HL2 mousepad?

I personally still use a mousepad with my desktop, even though my mouse that I use doesn't need it I feel that it still provides it with a nice surface to be used on and therefore I know it will work better. Plus there is a little resistance to moving the mouse around so it doesn't glide around uncontrollably. I have 2 mouse pads, one is a Nightmare before Christmas and the other is an old Bugs Bunny one with Bugs and Taz.

I don't have one. I was thinking of buying one since two years ago, but still haven't bothered to buy one. I never facing a problem with my mouse, but they say mousepads are good in prevents RSI. I might get one, if I remember.

I don't need a mouse-pad, but if I were to get one I would try to get something related to my interests. I wonder if a mousepad would prevent a bunch of dust and hair from getting caught on the underside of my mouse.

My mousepad

It just feels more comfortable to not have my mouse glide frictionlessly over a flat table. Plus, I'm sure it's easier to play FPS games with a mousepad.

I have an "old-school" ball-operated mouse and I don't use a mousepad. Works just fine on my desk surface. I used to use mousepads, but they kept getting torn up for some reason.

I've been using the same grey mouse pad for like 10 years now.... and I'm still using it.

Least I clean it from time to time.

I don't have one, but I wouldn't mind getting one at some stage.

They're dead? Psssh, naw. I still have mine from years ago! Personalized Spider Man mousepad to be exact. Feels better, and sometimes the mouse won't work on my wood desk.

Edited to describe me.

I've had this one since we used Windows 3.1. I have a few spares, though, and I sometimes bring one with me with the portable mouse. It feels much smoother in my opinion than just running it along a bare table.

I don't use one these days, if only because I rely more on trackpads on laptops. I did buy a basic black one just in case I need it, though, and just doing it without the pad sometimes causes wonky tracking.
