Has anyone else tried out the Touhou Project shooter games? It's a really interesting- albeit really hard- type of shooter called 'danmaku' in which you spend most of your time avoiding giant waves of bullets in complex and often beautiful formations. It's a lot of fun, and has a unique and, in my opinion, excellent soundtrack.

Olol, have you ever tried doing lunatic mode just for kicks? xD I get totally slaughtered.

Oh yes, I've tried Lunatic mode. Generally I get murdered starting at Stage Two, and don't stand a ghost of a chance on Stage Three. I don't even want to know what the endboss is like on that difficulty.

So... does anyone have a favorite Spell Card? I haven't yet played further than Touhou 7, but I really like the Prismriver Sisters' combo attack where the musical notes turn into bullets (forgot the name, sorry).

Heh, I actually saw a video of that boss battle before I had ever heard of Touhou, and I was completely surprised something like this even existed. Looking back on it, though, I think Touhou's patterns are a lot more elegant and colorful, and therefore more fun to play through.

To kind of answer that, though, they're both danmakus.

My favourite Spell Card is Hong Meiling's first one. (Can't remeber the name...)
I've played 6 onwards (not the fighting ones or Shoot the Bullet) but I'd say Phatasmagoria of Flower View (Number 9) is my favourite.
