It seems that the John de Lancie (voice of Discord) has teamed with Michael Brockhoff in the production of a documentary of the BronyCon (an MLP convention). As of now, the Kickstarter campaign has raised 25% of the required $60,000.
Check out the campaign here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...he-documentary
Yours truly has contributed $10 $15 $30 to the project.

In the summer of 2012 a rapidly growing adult fanbase will gather to celebrate the TV show "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic". This feature length documentary will follow several individual journeys that converge at the convention. We'll find out who the fans are and what is driving this phenomenon. What will the funds be used for? The short answer is quality. This program will be shot with broadcast quality equipment and crewed by professional camera operators, sound mixers and editors who do this for a living. Thank you for your support! Please help spread the word to make this project possible. |
3 – teamplasma, Yoshi648, Super Pichu62*also donates $10*
This should be awesome, give something to show the nay-sayers (or neigh-sayers
) to show we aren't just insane people who like "a show for little girls"
1 – Cat333PokémonDashArmy @ 9:57:31pm: there needs to be a live counter
Cat333Pokémon* @ 9:57:40pm: On Kickstarter?
DashArmy @ 9:57:45pm: yes
DashArmy @ 9:57:58pm: i'd stare at it all day
DashArmy @ 9:58:10pm: and every donation triggers a yay
DashArmy @ 9:58:29pm: the bigger the donation the longer the yay
Thought I'd share this pretty amusing thought with you guys
1 – Cat333Pokémon..... Wow, someone just donated $10,000! At the time of this post, the current total is very close to 40,000. 2/3 of the way there not even in two full days: Rainbow Dash is proud!
1 – Cat333PokémonThanks to a nice donation of $5000, we have officially made it to the $60,000 mark! Not even a full three days and the goal was already met, amazing how much the brony community can come together for projects such as this. With still 24 days to go, one wonders how far this will reach.
3 – Cat333Pokémon, Twiggy, TurtwigXMicheal has talked with the $10k backer. Apparently, the pledge is very much real. It's too bad he wishes to remain anonymous, though if he is included as producer in credits he won't be for long.
I would laugh so hard if it was Gabe Newell or Notch
3 – Yoshi648, TurtwigX, Cat333PokémonThey already answered that:

We can't believe we're already talking about this, but you are probably wondering what happens if we exceed our goal. We've got some ideas of how to put the funds to good use. * We want to add additional cameras to get better coverage of the BronyCon convention itself. Ideally we want several camera teams rolling on the convention action and a camera team pulling people into a private room to interview them away from the chaos. * We want to add extra shoot days to show Bronies at home, away from the convention. * We want to add extra shoot days to interview more of the people who work and act on MLP. * We want to add extra shoot days to include international fans and conventions. * We'll be able to pay the fees to enter the finished program into film festivals. Many people have been asking if the final program will be available for sale on DVD or broadcast on television. The short answer is that while ultimately we expect a wide release to the general public, for now we are concentrating on producing the best program possible. Once finished, our priority will be to get the program sent out to the people who supported the project. There will be a public release, but it will happen later in the process. Again, thank you and please keep spreading the word and we'll do our part to try to make this project exceed your expectations. Best, Mike, John & Laurent |
1 – TurtwigXOoh, there's a new goal to make it 20% cooler: $100,000.
They now have outlined more specific goals for folks they plan to interview as well. Man, I kinda wish I could go to this convention.
Total funded: $75,207 + $257.67 PayPal.
Yet another new goal! $200,000 this time, but there's a bonus now: Tara Strong and Lauren Faust will be executive producers for the documentary, and there are new rewards.
Current total: $91,567 (excluding PayPal donations).
With 8 days left, it jumped to $173,866 $183,866 because someone JUST apparently donated 10k.
Five bucks says we're gonna hit 200k. Why don't I have 30$ right now?
1 – Cat333PokémonWith 37 hours remaining, we are currently at $272,916 (not including PayPal, which as of two days ago was at $18k). I'm willing to bet this will be at $300k by the time it is done.
1 – Cat333PokémonDouble-posting because update.
Well it ended. Total (before fees and with PayPal payments): $348,164. That's 5.8X the original goal. Good job everypony!

Dear Princess Celestia, What an amazing group of people Bronies and those who support Bronies are! Twenty-four days ago we announced our dream of producing a documentary about the phenomenon of “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” and its dedicated fans who live its values in their daily lives. Well, not only have thousands of members of the Brony Community and other members of the public come forward to encourage us, enough of them have shown their generosity that we can make an even better film than we ever imagined! They also helped the project become the 2nd most funded film of all time on Kickstarter. Thank you for your inspiration and the inspiration we have received, and will continue to receive, from people everywhere. Your faithful students, Tara, Lauren, John, Mike, Laurent & the rest of the crew. |
1 – Cat333Pokémon2nd most funded of all time? Wow, nice job! I can't wait to see the outcome of this marvel.
1 – Cat333PokémonIt seems they have captured enough footage and have enough money leftover that they are going to be working on a second documentary titled Bronies.
