Nintendo has just confirmed the DSi LL. It is a DSi but with much larger screens. Now I know a lot of people are going to start complaining since they have nothing better to do. I am aware that the larger screens are going to stretch the graphics, but remember Nintendo has a very expanded audience, and that includes many people who don't have good vision and could use the bigger screens.

Yes the system's size will obviously be bigger (it's even bigger then the original DS). Size comparison:
DS?148.7mm?84.7mm?28.9mm
DS Lite?133.0mm?73.9mm?21.5mm
DSi?137.0mm?74.9mm?18.9mm
DSi LL?161.0mm?91.4mm?21.2mm
It will also be about 1.5 times the weight of the DSi/Lite.
The stylus has been basically upgraded to a full size pen.
The battery will last about 1-3 more hours then the regular DSi (depending on light setting)
It will also come pre-installed with three brain-training type games.

UPDATE 10/31/09:
The DSi LL (Also known as the DSi XL) will be coming to the US sometime next year.

The wine color looks pretty classy, and it matches the forum!

I'm glad I decided not to get the regular DSi.

Anyone thinking about getting it?

Nintendo, next system please, not another DS? This is the fourth iteration of the same system!

Nintendo is releasing their new system with the Nvidia's Tegra chip in late 2010, according to Nvidia. This isn't worth getting.

You know me, I gotta have every rehash.

I just hope it's not released SOON. I know it'll be out in Japan like that *snaps fingers* but I hope the American release is put off.

Having said that, the redesign looks pretty awesome.

I'm expecting a lot of comments on this thread like "omg no more uselsess remaeks nintnedon becuz no one will by them"

Well guess what, I'm gonna be buying them. I love my portable gaming. Any slight change in design makes my time all the more worth it, despite what people say.

I hear ya , I also try and grab every re-hash *sees collection of every GameBoy*, the only thing is that I wait until I can find one cheap.

I still cant believe theyre going through with this. Were getting a next gen system soon. But why release a new DSi not even 7 months after its release? I was one of the fan boys who went out and got a DSi on the release date. And ive been happy with it to. But honestly pay an extra 50-100 dollares for a bigger screen and stylus? I would recomend the DSi for anyone who is looking to buy one. But if you already have a DSi then save up for the next gen system. Unless your a nintendo fan boy and absolutely need this to add to your collection then i say go for it.

There are, believe it or not, people who don't fanboy over Nintendo and still go out and buy every new iteration of a console being shelled out. There are some people out there who think this is a good idea, and others thinking this is stupid. Personally, I don't really mind as long as it doesn't hit the states immediately.

By the way, it's been out in Japan for about a year now, and since it's hitting JP shores earlier (obviously) it's actually not that big of a deal, so no one should be saying "omg y is nitenedno rilesing a ne wdsi rite away we juts got it liek 6 months ago" because officially, the DSi has been out for a year. A rerendering would be expected.

Now that I think about it, if I follow this logic, we should see the DSi LL hit the us in about 5 or 6 months, and the new Nintendo portable about another year or so after that.

Well if it's bigger, why didn't they re-add the GBA slot?

I went from an original DS to the DSi, I'll most likely skip this one.
Besides it doesn't seem to fit well in a pocket, the Lite/DSi barely do.

I totally called that.

EDIT: Reading this article, looks like some people fall under the category of the whiners I talked about above...

To me, this is an extreme waste of money. WHAT THE HECK NINTENDO bigger does NOT always mean better <.<

If you think about it, this was the same thing that happened with the DS and the DS Lite. Technically, the DSi's improvements and differences (DLC, lack of GBA slot, etc.) make it a new handheld. The DSi LL is basically the DSi's DS Lite. It's a facelift. The DS Lite doesn't have anything the DS does. It's just a remodel. But people bought into it. The same thing will happen here.

An undeniable fact, whether you think this is stupid or not, is the fact that the DS LL looks pretty sweet.

Yeah, I'll just wait until either I actually want one, a DSi-only Pokémon game is released, or Nintendo releases the true successor.

As much as I'd love the bigger screen, I already have enough trouble carrying around my DSi and games, they're heavy enough as it is. I think I'll skip this one and wait out the next gen.

I've been a Ninty fan since I saw a Gameboy, but I think they're getting a bit stupid now.
4 different DS'? Everybody already has one, why make more? I sense loss of money.
Also, they're releasing a black Wii. Why!? NEARLY EVERYBODY ALREADY OWNS A WII.

Actually, the DSi is no longer a new version of the DS, it's its own console line, and I'll be explaining that in detail in a different thread. Again, the DSi LL is just the "DSi Lite". Neither the DS Lite nor the DSi LL had any significant improvements over their counterparts. They're just facelifts.

Eh...not true. Not everyone has one, and those that don't would like a choice between colors. I wanted a choice at launch, but the white Wii was just so tantalizing, and I've grown custom to it. The black Wii doesn't look too good. Besides, the Wii's price is being slashed down to 200$, so no need to complain.

I wish they would've done this from the start. Release an alternative kolor.

Personally, I don't think it makes much sense to make another DSi, but if people want to buy one that's ok with me. I use a DS lite, which I actually only bought recently because my classic DS has been recently running low on batteries often, and I don't want to send it in for a new internal battery.

However, 4 DS's does seem a bit excessive, and LiteTheIronMan please don't respond saying how they're actually different than one another, because I know that they are but I usually use a DS for DS and GBA games, not all the other featurhes that the DSi has. Its a good idea for those who it appeals to, but seems like a but much for those (like myself) who don't buy every rehashed version of a system.

*replies anyways*

This somewhat epic bump just reminded me. The DSi XL is to be released Q1 2010, so between January and March, it'll hit shelves. And guess who got enough money to spend on it? This guy *points to self*.

Oh, and as a side note, I never use my DS or DS Lite for GBA games unless I'm Pal Parking. I always use my GBA SP. I like it more. So ha.

I'd totally make an unboxing video of it when it came out, but TheNintend0Channel will beat me to it. That lady's insane when it comes to Ninty products. She gets eeeeevvvvvvvvveeeerrrryyyyyyytthhhhhhhiiiiiinnnnng ggg.......
