Well, I see that this place has gathered a nice following, but the rate at which people join seems to be quite slow, maybe no more than a couple people per week.

I'd like to ask the community what could be done to bring more people to the forum. I'd also like to ask if you folks could advertise on other sites a little bit, but please follow this rule:
DO NOT VIOLATE ANOTHER FORUM'S RULES WHEN MAKING ADVERTISEMENTS.

If you have a Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, blog, or anything else of the sort, would you mind making a post about this site, mentioning what it has to offer (Pokémon news, SoulSilver info...)?

I'll do what I can... Most of the people at my school are in to the retro stuff... I'm talkin' total shun of anything above 1st Gen. I do have a few friends that might like to join, though. I'll talk to 'em.

New visitors are always a good thing. Word-of-mouth is one of the simplest free advertising techniques.

I really want to know how else to get people here other than word-of-mouth. I've tried advertising on YouTube; that somewhat worked. I've tried advertising on other sites I use, but that didn't work. My site brings in about 200 unique viewers a day, so why isn't the forum very active? Ideas?!

It's probably just the people don't post here because they already have lots of other forums they talk on or they just simply don't have the time to be an active member here.

This forum is mainly focused on Pokémon games... Maybe if you focused a little more on other forums? I know you have a Mario Forum, and all that great stuff, but maybe something's missing.

I've read articles that say your forum needs a hook, which is the main subject your forum is about. For mine, that's Pokémon.

Most of my friends aren't into pokemon, they only play laid-back, casual games, but I'll see what I can do.

I've told my friends about this forum but Pokemon isn't their forte...

Everyone else I know is either anti-Pokemon, don't really care about Pokemon, or are anti-Nintendo.

In extreme cases they're a bunch of FPS gaming nutjobs who think that's the only gaming genre that ever existed.

Sorry, but I can't get publicity to Floatzel.net. I could promote it with a YouTube video but I don't know what good that'll do.

Hmmz yah it is hard to find people who still like Pokemon the creators need to do something really big to get everyone interested again, remember how all of us were trading my Pokemon outside the engineering building at school so they could evolve and like 3 people said something to us though? They could've been potential new members/friends LOL but who knows, the only thing I can think of is that when you advertise mention that the forum talks about more than just Pokemon and not only is there a section for Nintendo but all of the other systems as well. Another thing that might be interesting is if you had a page of downloadable ROMs and then people would come to the forum to find other people to play online together with (if that's even possible anymore). You should be proud of the number of posts this place gets every day though, I can't get on all the time so it's really hard for me to attempt to keep up xD it's normal for every forum to have their "number of new members per day graph" to look like exponential decay every now and then, the only thing you can really try is more/better advertising (which you should be getting now) or as a last ditch effort change the theme of the site every couple weeks or so while still leaving the forum open to all of its various topics. I used to be in a neopets forum that had other topics in it but other than people on neopets itself no one really knew about it so there were only maybe 45 members total lol, it's tough but I have faith that this place has some hardcore fans and won't die for quite some time. P.S. Sorry for long sentences/long post again lol

About the "only games being FPS" thing, in a game lounge on college campus, I brought the Wii today and played a variety of games, including an Atari 2600 emulator. I even beat the messy E.T. with a group of folks watching.

I know this off subject but can we still talk about roms or hack games.

If the forum is getting 1-2 new active users a week, then I would consider the site's growth to be solid. Traffic of active users is usually very, very small compared to overall traffic on most websites. Over time, that 1-2 users per week will grow into a larger community. It honestly just takes time.

Even if the forum doesn't grow significantly, in my opinion at least a small but strong community is a better thing than a large but completely loose one. And I would say the community as it is has strength on its side.

However, I get a couple users per week but no more than a few active ones per month, at least based on recent statistics. This forum used to be a complete mess.

For a personal perspective at least, I came to the forums because of the UStream and chat room. I think those specifically are strong binding points for the community. Perhaps focusing on them would build the userbase?

Just to inform you Cat that the forums has a good number of members, but the inactivity is due to the lack of nice and creative ideas. For instance, I find that most of the posts are concerned in the same threads, many of them which I don't like, decreasing my activity in posting. However, if we, the staff members, encourage the members to post different kind of threads, then you will notice a higher rate of activity. I also believe that once Shadow releases his surprise, the forums will gain more activity.

I realize that some parts of the forum are a little boring. But what kind of original topics are you talking about?

Well... I don´t know anyone who still likes Pokémon. My friends like the 1st and 2nd gen games most and others like the 3rd gen as well, but this 4th gen is a big question mark.

Nowadays it´s extraordinary to see people playing Pokémon in the Internet in Finland. If I ever find someone, I´ll tell him/her about this site.
