The Jump Festa trade show has just released the new Pokemon crossover game: Pokemon + Nobunaga’s Ambition. It is a DS game that is to be released on the Nintendo DS system in Spring 2012 as a collaborative work between The Pokemon Company and Koei, the makers of Nobunaga's Ambition.
Nobunaga's Ambition is a turn-based strategy role-playing game which was released in Japan.

It appears that the game takes place in the ancient past with Pokemon Trainers, both the female and male players will start out with an Eevee. There are also military soldiers, Oichi with her Jigglypuff, Mitsuhide and his Articuno, Shingen and Groudon, and Kenshin with Mewtwo as well as Nobunaga with Zekrom.

My personal opinion of this is veryyyy high, it reminds me of something like Dynasty Warriors and Fire Emblem combined with Pokemon, an odd idea I thought was only a fantasy but I'm quickly being proven wrong it seems! I am going to surely hope to see this make it's way outside of Japan, only time will tell though, I'm thrilled it's going to the DS as well since I'd be very sad if it were on the 3DS. This is something very uniqe, and quite frankly I personally love it, changes things up from the typical spin-offs they make, though I do like most of the spin-offs, don't get me wrong on that! x3

It looks pretty cool. If it turns out the way I imagine then I might enjoy it more than the main Pokemon games.

For a crossover, it seems to fit just great. Humans from another series essentially swapping out the humans in Pokemon sounds legit.

And an NES release. I happen to have a working copy that I absolutely suck at.

It'll be interesting to see what else they reveal about it in the future. Definitely will be an interesting game for the Poke fans!

A fascinating idea! I never imagined that such a game would be created. It sounds really unique and refreshing.

It's funny because Mewtwo was cloned from Mew using futuristic technology...

Logic vs Mewtwo. We can have one but not the other. Mewtwo obviously wins.

Hmm...I honestly don't know what to make of the new game. I guess it's too early for me to establish a position on this game. I've never even heard of Nobunaga's Ambition or whatever it's called. It's different, though, and that's a good thing. Keeping the franchise fresh with new sorts of stuff!

Looking at the trailer, it seems very similar to Mystery Dungeon, except without the human-turning-into-a-Pokemon concept, and with humans in it. Is also seems similar to Ranger in that respect. I dunno, really. It looks interesting.

Also, I'm not the only one who thinks the 17 castles in the game are based on the 17 elemental types, right?

inb4 All of the sudden everybody knows what Nobunaga's Ambition is due to this game

As I have previously stated earlier in the thread, I actually own a Nobunaga's Ambition game on the NES. It is a series of turn based strategy games set in 16th century Japan, around the time that Oda Nobunaga wanted to unify Japan. In the early games in the series, you chose a daimyo of the time and tried to conquer Japan. Battles were fought with a hexagonal grid system. You lost if your chosen daimyo died, either by losing a battle in his own fief or by old age. You won by capturing all the other fiefs. The game allowed for up to 8 players through hotseat multiplayer where you passed the controller to somebody when it is their turn. There is some deep strategy in this series. Check GalliumGrant's post for gameplay videos.

I doubt it. This is a major game and it is impossible for two major games to be revealed at the same time. It is most likely that it is this game that will be shown next month.

Feudalistic Japan plus Pokemon, about you conquering real-world locations in Japan?

It sounds cool. I just don't know about the gameplay, I've never played Nobunaga's Ambition (but I know who he is) so I have no idea how that'll work.

Hm, I remember the last crossover, which was the Mystery Dungeon series. This game looks like it'll be very impressive. I'm not going to comment until I get a chance to play it, though.

Yeah, the Mystery Dungeon games had no Pokémon in them originally. Dragon Quest and Shiren the Wanderer were the first two series, and Final Fantasy's Chocobo was the first significant cross-over. Pokémon came almost a decade later.

Another trailer was released for this. It didn't reveal much new, but it did reveal a new Bushou Leader. Her name is Kunoichi and is teamed up with a Scraggy. The following trailer also shows some new footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsiVz...layer_embedded
