The first generation Pokémon games were riddled with glitches, some good, some bad, some pointless. While most of them were fixed come Generation 2, some still snuck back in there, and there have still been glitches all through Pokémon. So I asks you. What's your favourite glitch?
Mine has to be the Mew glitch (minus the Mew, plus any glitch in the game) from gen 1. Websites like TRsRockin.com list only what appears for Special stats up to 255, but I had a Magnemite with a Special of 278. I tried it out, and WOW. The entire top half of the screen filled up with glitch blocks, but the game hadn't frozen. So what did I do? Obviously, I caught it. Nothing strange happened. At level 13 (All Pokémon found via the Mew glitch are level 7) it evolved in to a Rhydon, like a lot of glitch Pokémon do. It knew TM24, Hyper Beam, 3TrainerPoké and HM6 (There are only 5 HMs in the game...). Whenever I tried any of the glitched attacks the game froze.
Then I caught another glitch (Named LM4), but when I levelled that up my save was deleted. This was on my blue, where I'd completed my Pokédex 100% legit (Even an event Mew. And a Glitched Mew), and I'd just lost it all (Phah. Who wants a virtual diploma anyway?)

Easily the MissingNo. glitch! I performed that until the game nearly wiped itself. (It eventually wiped when I used some bad GameShark codes.) More items! MORE! MORE! I used that to help me complete the Pokédex legit, which was almost too easy.
If I play my Japanese Emerald significantly more, I might use that cloning glitch to my advantage. The only problem is that I discovered the clone glitch (via a friend) AFTER I had already imported nearly my entire Sapphire, so I couldn't send them over to English Emerald.
I agree with Cat. The MissingNo glitch was always fun. Without EV's in R/B (Correct me if I'm wrong. I never was into EV training), having near unlimited rare candies to just power level your PKM made things too easy, in theory. Made it easier to get a Dragonite though, because damn am I lazy about leveling sometimes. ;P
My MissingNo always became a Kangaskahn though, I heard there was a particular thing that counted to what it became, but I forgot and too lazy to particularly look it up now.

EVs WERE in Red/Blue, but they were managed differently:

This is a lesser known glitch, but in the first and second generation games, you could potentially increase your Pokemon's stats past what they are at Lv. 100 with a special PC glitch.
With Mewtwo in R/B/Y, I would go and fight 20 random Pokemon (Elite Four, Unknown Dungeon, etc.) and then deposit Mewtwo into the PC boxes. Then, I would pull him out and one of his stats would have increased by 1-2 points.
It doesn't sound like much, but do it enough times and you slowly (without getting crazy stats) get a very powerful Mewtwo.
I didn't do this is G/S/C though since I couldn't triple the speed on the Stadium games (that's what I played the games on), but I'm sure it worked there too.
If anyone has an old Red or Blue game, try out the glitch sometime. I'm sure it works for other Pokemon too.
Edit: realized Bubepedia already covers this under "EV training." Did not know this happened, though I still count it as a glitch lol.

I've always found the really trivial glitches the most fun. In Red and Blue, this would be the invisible PC and the occasional demon person nobody seems to notice is there. The ability to get caught in the lab door was also fun.
In Ruby and Sapphire, the Aroma Lady and Gentleman were also very fun to see, largely because it demonstrates that trainers who see you are can still pass through solid objects, where trainers in general can't. I suppose it could be a security measure for that exact sort of thing.
I liked the missingno glitch and the mew glitch! Missingno would cause chaos in your game. Like the elite four would be mess up. The mew glitch would help me catch any pokemon and sometimes...you can catch a level 1 pokemon using the mew glitch and if you do it right...the level 1 pokemon would turn to level 100 in its next battle if it earns exp. (but the moves suck) I loved it! I'm not sure if the 100 glitch is on any website. I learned it from youtube.
