Why does Nintendo seems to fear releasing the top selling games for the 3DS Virtual Console?

I mean no Tetris or Pokemon.

Yoooo! about half of those games I can't wait for! Super mario advance 4: Mario bros 3? I always wanted that game, cause I loved the original mario bros 3. It was my first ever video game I played!

GO NINTENDO!

An $80 price drop? I may consider buying one now...but then there's the aspect of buying games. Would all of the free games be worth paying $80 more now? That would be $4 a game. Possibly.

Holy Arceus, that was a quick price drop, and it is for 1/3 of the price! Looks like I'll be getting one sooner then I expected. See children, this is why patience is a virtue.

Obviously they wouldn't want the best-selling games to just be given away for free. Though I am intrigued that they won't release them to the general public. Wouldn't they get more money making the games available to everyone later on instead of having people purchase the 3DS now at the higher price?

I think that was a good idea for the 3DS price to go down.

Nice, free games! I'm gonna go register early since I don't get on the e-shop much, but still, If I had known sooner, I would've had enough to get Zelda Oot...but I still like having super street fighter.

Eh, hopefully this whole promotional price drop and free games event will convince me a bit to get a 3DS.
If not, I'll just have my brother get the free games on his 3DS so I can play them. c:

Pokémon is very much about trading. They'd need to retool the older games to allow all of them to be gotten in one game or add some kind of trading mechanism. Then there are the collectors who will want to be able to bring their Pokémon forward to Black and White.

Tetris almost certainly will come out, though, unless they remake it again.

Lite can't you already play Metriod Fuision? If not you fail at life.

Also the price drop is happening on my birthday how ironic.

I have Metroid Fusion on GBA. However, I do NOT have Metroid Fusion on 3DS.

Congradulations, more special things happen on your birthday.

But the price drop is huge! I wouldn't think it would be THAT big.

I got mine for <£100 by trading in a little bit so... Yeah, I don't mind much. Plus, 20 free games sounds awesome!

It actually makes sense to get it now, without the price drop, too, since you'll be getting 20 free games over the eShop. Assuming each is approx. $4 that makes up for the -$80 the discount takes it down anyway. Or, people who get it with the discount and want all the games end up paying the full price. So it's pretty even.

Actually just a Gameboy Colour game is £5.40, so a GBA game will likely be a fair bit more. Then take into account exchange rates (How much is LoZ:LA in the US eShop?) and you're probably looking at quite a lot more than $80. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal.

LA: DX was $6 in the US, but some regions/states here had to pay a bit of tax (I paid $5.99)

I heard that the 3DS has been having some problems about faulty systems or something close to that. My mom says i shouldnt buy one cause of the 3DS having systems problems and junk.

Now I feel like I've been ripped off.

Even though I got it for free.

Whatever.

Going by UK prices, if an NES game is £3.50 (500 Wii points) and it'll be 10 of those, and 10 GBA games (Let's assume they'll be £7 each, or 1000 Wii points), you'd be paying £105. Considering the RRP of the 3DS in the UK was £230 (We got SO ripped off with that), that's almost worth half of the cost of the 3DS. Even if the GBA games were only £5 each you're still looking at a good £85, which is just over 1/3 of the price of a 3DS.

Also take into account that we'll get the NES games earlier, and that the GBA games aren't even slated to be released to the general public and I'd say that's a DARN GOOD DEAL.

EDIT: @Kakashi that was an error with Amazon stocks of Black 3DSes which has since been resolved.

There is a grand total of ONE "faulty problem" with the 3DS. It would screen-of-death occasionally when you played Ridge Racer 3D. This has since been patched. Because the 3DS has firmware updates to fix crashes with software/hardware. Your mom is an idiot.

My mom must be dumb, well if the problem has been fixed im hoping to get a 3DS sometime soon, cause i need a new DS as my top area has hinge damage and it wont stay in place anymore (the thing that makes it stay open in place), but it stays works though i just have to hold up the top area when playing in a certin angle.

In somewhat related news, to help with the decrease in revenue for the 3DS, Iwata is cutting his own salary in half and reducing his bonuses, while Miyamoto is decreasing his by 30% and more executives are taking a 20% cut.

Well in terms of Pokémon, I'd LOVE it if you can somehow trade Pokémon from one VC title to another. Especially if they let you bring your Gen. I and II Pokémon into Gen. III, or use the PokéShifter/Pal Park from your Gen. III digital copies. That would certainly help people who don't have the GBA slot. And I have no doubts they'll at least release FR/LG for the Virtual Console. WIth this announcement of GBA games, I expect them to remake R/S and release FR/LG as they are on the eShop.

There are those among us who would like to kill Wal-Mart (and apparently Target) right now. Some of those among us because we feel cheated, others (like lil' old me) because we didn't have the money to abuse the opportunity xD
