There is a theory that somebody posted online that after Ash got hit by lightning in the first episode he went into a coma and that's why he never really ages and it explains why he keeps loosing, because he never wants his coma to end.

No, he never ages because it's a cartoon end of story.

Oh my.....I was wondering whether this theory would ever reach VR. It's pretty eerie.
I completely disagree with it, though, for the record. It's entirely speculative and has no actual solid evidence to support it. Moreover, Ash doesn't always lose. He defeated Articuno, Regice, Darkrai, and Latios, which are all Legendary Pokemon, etc.
That article was published before those events. The more recent ones prove it wrong. Not to mention, Ash states a few times throughout the series that a year has passed from a specific event, such as it being a year after the day he met Pikachu in the Pikachu and Pichu special before Pokemon 3, etc.
If Ash were subconsciously trying to suppress his awareness of his physical age, and therefore his actual comatose state, in an effort to avoid waking up and "dying" (for the record, waking up from a coma doesn't kill you. If you were going to die from brain damage, you -wouldn't- wake up.), then there would be no mention whatsoever of periods of time elapsing, as that would trigger his age awareness.

So yeah. It's a somewhat interesting take on it, but completely untrue and somewhat ludicrous.

: I've always had the it's just a cartoon thought in mind. Although, in an interview wih one of the people who write the show, they said that they can have Ash never age or really change because the audience for the show is constantly replaced. The only problem with that statement is that they're not focusing on their entire audience and just the newcomers so that's their "Excuse" for not having Ash see any of he characters he said that he'll meet again but never did. If the coma theory was true, then I would laugh because that'd be a fun ending to the showw, but I doubt they're gonna do that.

I think this was meant to just be a joke and not an actual theory.

Also, some further reading on what may have inspired said joke

Well, if there are around 700 episodes released, and guessing one episode is around one day in Ash's life, I think it's safe to say that he's aged about two and a half years since the anime started. But that's just me.

It'd be good to point out he's already celebrated at least one birthday

Yeah. You know what has been upsetting about the anime for the past few years?
1. Ash's Charizard wasn't used in the Sinnoh league
2. Misty hasn't appeared since the AG series
3.The new characters suck, especially Cilan
And if he did have a birthday, wouldn't they have made an episode about it?

My theory is that IT'S JUST A CARTOON. However, as with most things, people have to take things waaaay too far instead of just enjoying them.

Great theory... If Ash didn't say he'd been a trainer for 2 months within 10 episodes. Plus a lot of episodes clearly show night passing...

I'm just gonna go ahead and say it's cartoon logic, in the same way that SMB uses Nintendo logic. It's not supposed to make sense.

In my opinion, someone simply had too much time and boredom on their hands.
I take the show for what it is; a cartoon. That's just my opinion though.
