I'm going to attempt to screen record a hardsub of the last Pokemon Movie 14 trailer that can't be well-encoded due to the original file format of the video, without me re-doing all the timecodes for the subtitles. As a result, I need one that can record in the highest quality possible, and provide the least lag. So basically the best Screen Recording software there is. I have no idea which one that is, so I'm asking for suggestions, basically.
I just tried out Fraps with Quicktime, and that worked. Recording quality is pretty much pixel-for-pixel, and I've never had any lag while using it, and it records sound from Stereo Mix. Bear in mind though that it's not a proper screen recorder, and will only record specific things (It'll record games and Quicktime and such, but you can't record, for example, internet explorer or your desktop). Also you'll have to purchase the full version if you want anything longer than 30 seconds.
