For those of you who have been living under a rock recently, our lead admin Cat333Pokémon has left today (May 22nd) for a two-week vacation to Tennessee. That being said, he has asked me to start a picture thread here so all of you can see what random shenanigans he is up to (much like what I did for him last year only that time he actually told people what he was doing instead of having his lackey take up the slack). I'll put the text that he gave me for the image, and the text will be a link to the respective image since they are a bit big and he asked that I not re-size them. I'll be updating this thread whenever he sends me stuff so check back.
Also that all being said, he left me in charge of the forums for these two weeks. While he may come on every now and then, he has "demoted" himself to content staff so he won't have to worry about anything. So yeah, if you have any problems you are going to have to talk with this crazy for the time being. I can be reached here on the forums, Windows Live Messenger, *****, or just plain-old e-mail (all of which can be found in my profile). Alright, I guess I should stop typing stuff and post what Cat sent me thus far:
ADVENTURE TIME!
Sunday 5/22
Leaving the terminal
The first stop is, believe it or not, a McDonald's. It seems like the stops that aren't stations will be fast food (next one has Taco Bell and Subway). There is also an overly patriotic lady on the bus who keeps harassing the Mexican-Americans. The bus driver threatened to contact the police if she continues. We'll see what happens regarding her. I must say that time seems to go a little faster than you'd expect.
Well, here's the last (daytime) stop for today. It's a strange feeling not being sure what the little towns are named. A map may have been something nice to bring. I already ate one of the sandwiches I brought and got a drink here. Man, Taco Bell is expensive, at $5.79 for a #8, which is $3.99 back at UNLV.
Stopped at a Sinclair at Green River. Amazing to see most of the folks on board trying to sleep at what would be 10:45 at home when I normally am not out until 3 in the morning. I still have plenty of Mountain Dew, candy, and sandwiches. Onto the Rocky Mountains! Knowing me, I'll be out at an odd time...
Monday 5/23
Arrived at Grand Junction, CO. This is the last stop before a transfer in Denver, then I'm off to Kansas. A stowaway joined us at Green River, UT. He needed a ride the rest of the way to GJ, and there was no ticket check at that point. Can't believe I still have to go all the way up to Ohio still. Ah well, the worst part about nighttime is when someone is sitting next to you, so you can't really use anything with a bright screen. Not that it would be smart to try, though, as it hurts the eyes. Wonder if I'll get any sleep in. I sure won't if I'm next to that nut who moved next to me. Hehe, I'm gonna try to sneak my own seat this time again. (Please don't let that guy see me. I know people like to look for their seating partner, even if they're being evasive.)
Another very brief stop, this one looks like a ski resort. I saw a sign that said "LionsHead Village," so I'm assuming that is its name. And that lady acted up again as soon as we got a new driver, but the first one had already forewarned him. After he informed her that he could just leave her at the next stop, she started storming, "No, you'll take me to Denver!"
Now pulling into Denver, CO. I've got to switch buses here.
Hehe, the crazy lady is now seated directly behind me. I wonder if she is following all the way to Indianapolis. Leaving Denver now. And oh boy, the weather looks "beautiful," which means there is a rather large cell that produced tornadoes before (including a devestating one last night and another the night before in Kansas) currently in southern Missouri, moving east. I did see a forecast for thunderstorms near Knoxville, so I hope that doesn't cause problems.
Stopped at another McDonald's in Burlington, CO. Considering my sandwiches started going bad and McDonald's has a reliable Dollar Menu, I picked up some burgers and a drink, enough to tide me over into the night.I actually did get a fair bit of sleep in since Denver. Oh, and tax here is under 5%, which is awesome when Nevada's is so high (8.1%).
Just entered Kansas. Next stop will probably be Salina. The crazy lady will not stop talking. This time, she stole someone's seat and moved his stuff. When the bus driver had them sit together, she tried stealing half of his food for being sat next to her. And when we went into that McDonald's, she followed the driver and bugged him about who-know-what.
This stop is Salina, KS. Sorry about all the pictures being gas stations, but there really isn't much else interesting to send, except perhaps the fields or a blurry picture of my DS. It'll be dark by the time we arrive in Kansas City, MO.
Forgot to mention something. At the last stop, one of the passengers was left behind. The driver stated the stop was 5 minutes but gave folks nearly 15. The guy was just ENTERING the bathroom when we took off. If you think I can't time, this guy is worse. Anyway, that guy who missed the bus actually caught up at this stop. He got a ride from a guy in the military. Believe it or not, I actually also caught two more folks for the MemberDex too. ![]()
Another update. The crazy lady got kicked off in Salina. To add on to all the commotion, she was caught smoking in the bathroom on the bus.
*Note from Yoshi: He sent me a picture of this wacko being stranded at the stop along with a clip of her arguing with the driver, but Cat asked I not share them with you.
And here's a photo so I can be different, about to get on the highway to leave Salina.
Here is a random intersection (exit 296 on I-70) on the way to Topeka. Uh oh, low battery, so this will be the last picture until Kansas City, most likely. Might even be the last I send until Tennessee. No matter, though. I can take pictures with my other camera and send them later. And dang, people keep joining the bus at the most random of places. Not to mention the bus left Salina a little late.
I was sneaky. I took this on the other camera (and resized it). We're making a brief stop in Topeka.
Tuesday 5/24
As we were pulling into Kansas City, MO a few hours ago, I took this poor quality picture of the KC skyline. It was only a couple minutes late, and I managed to meet *censored* at the terminal for a few minutes.
And this one is just some part of downtown St. Louis, MO. Hehe, I know JC wants to come here to meet a certain girl. Ah well, the trip is getting near its end, but I've still got to go to Ohio. *sees a sign that says "Knoxville"* Riding that one would have been easy.
Here is the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN. Time for a transfer.
Ooh, one of the new buses. It has power outlets, seatbelts, and drink holders. This ride will only be two hours, as Cincinnati is quite close, then about five more until Knoxville. :3
Nice cloudy sky. Also, I forgot to bring up the two nuts on the last bus. The air conditioner started to fault as I was dozing off. When I woke, the lady next to me had stripped into a bathing suit and laid down on the floor, in the middle of the aisle where everyone walks. The guy behind me agreed on it bein too hot, and for the last hour of the trip to Indianapolis, he started yelling. He did bang on my seat, so I moved next to a man who actually made good conversation.
Gotta love how annoying taking photos out the bus window is. This is the best I could get of Cincinnati, OH. That bus ride was practically uneventful.
Here's another of Cincinnati. I love the architecture here. It's so unique and old-fashioned. Next stop will probably be London, KY.
A Burger King in London, KY. This is the last stop. Nothing crazy on this bus, so nothing funny to talk about here, either.
Arriving in Knoxville. Loving all the forestry here.
