As announced back in the month of January, a new manga was to be released in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday. This new series has recently made it's debut in the March 9th issue, revealing the title of the manga series to be Pokémon RéBURST. It chronicles the journey of a boy named Ryouga and his friend Miruto, being written by Jin Kusude, and illustrated by Mitsuhisa Tamura.

Looks epic. The name strikes me as odd though. I think this may shift the direction of the series drastically, since IMO the name seems to hint at some kind of redirection.

This art style looks really different than the normal pokemon characters. Should be interesting to see how this turns out.

The characters seem very different from something you would normally see in Pokemon and more in random, more mature (no, I'm NOT talking about that) anime. I'm interested to see how this works.

Yeah, when it was first announced to be upcoming in January, it was specifically made clear that it was meant to be aimed at an older demographic of people.

This looks pretty cool. I'd hope to see this come out in North America. I'd buy that kind of manga, in no time flat.

I would like to see the storyline of the manga and I might be interested reading it.

Hm, I wonder what they will decide on for mature topics to take advantage of in this manga. I can certainly see more violence, more references to death, and perhaps stronger language.

Then again, the manga almost always has more mature themes than the anime. Take a look at these four images I snapped. Sources: Arceus and the Jewel of Life, Pokémon Adventures: Part 6, Diamond and Pearl Adventure! Part 1, Diamond and Pearl Adventure! Part 4.

Guys, that stuff about it being more mature was all made up by Anime News Network.

It only started because the book it's being printed in was more mature maga in it.

Well that's a sham we believe it because of a site started a rumor. Still, the pokemon manga do have mature themes and have more original storyline than the anime.

I felt sorry for the cameraman that got hit by a pokeball. It looks a lot painful especially when a Piplup came out. :/

I saw a page of this, and I'm wondering, what exactly is "ReBursting" anyway? It looks like some form of fusing with the pokemon or something...
