As of today, Monday, December 27th, 2010, the fourth Beta of VictoryBattles is released. With it comes few major feature additions, though several minor tweaks - overall, it mostly worked on the backend (non-user facing) features, instead of focusing on features that most people will actually realize they are using.

Change Log

  • Far More Areas (Up to Fuschia!)
  • Movesets Have Been Added
  • Black and White Sprites
  • Some Black and White Pokémon
  • Layout Overhauled
  • Ability to Deny Battles
  • More Secure Logins
  • Embedded Who’s Online and Registration
  • Fine-Tuning Throughout

Hidden Features
A lot of work was put into features that were simply not stable enough for this beta release. As such, considerable work has already gone into the fifth beta that should be far enjoyed. On this note, all future development will remain on our current testing server:

rc1.victorybattles.net

Because of the development policy of VictoryBattles, no change is ever made that could impact the security of VictoryBattles, just the overall stability. As such, you are free to use the "bleeding edge" VictoryBattles if you wish - right now, though, it doesn't actually make much of a difference. Note, however, that you are generally requested not to make bug reports if you use the bleeding edge.

Future Release Plan
At this point, there plan to be two more Beta, Beta 5 and Beta 6. Both will likely take 2~3 months. The first of these two will focus entirely on user-facing features, and the second will focus much more on "engine" work, such as the battle engine. After this there will be a few release candidates and the final should be ready in the summer, nearly two years after work first began.

Reporting Bugs
As always many bugs were fixed, and likely many more were introduced. Please report any and all bugs here so they can be squashed: http://www.victoryroad.net/forumdisplay.php?f=175

Special Thanks
I also offer special thanks to the many users who helped me in the past development cycle. Those whose contributions made it into the work of this release were awarded a special Pokémon, and will also appear in the copyright section. Again, many thanks to all those users, and the many others who have played the game.
