Fellow members of Victory Road, it's twelve days till Christmas. You know what that means. Time to go spend happy times with your family and friends, spreading Christmas cheer and showing goodwill to your fellow man. But hold on. We can't forget the sacrifices we had to endure to reach this moment of 'happiness'. Almost everything you hear about Christmas is about the good things (candy canes, Santa, etc). But what about all the bad sides of Christmas? VR, I present to you the Twelve Pains of Christmas!

Here's how it's gonna work. Each day I'll write some kind of monologue talking about some aspect of Christmas. Each day will also have a Pain of Christmas within the monologue (the Pain will be posted at the end as well). Give us your good/bad/funny/true stories that either confirm/disprove/etc about the current day's Pain of Christmas. Say anything you want about it, as long as it's about the current day's Pain. You can keep talking about the current day's Pain until I reveal the next day's Pain. I'll try to get the next Pain up right after midnight EST. Once the next one's up, start talking about that Pain.

This topic will keep going until the last Pain of Christmas is revealed (which will be on Christmas Eve). The day after the final Pain is revealed (which is on Christmas Day) I'll have a big suprise for everyone. Be sure to check it out (if you can).

Now without further ado, let the Twelve Pains of Christmas begin!

[I know it's only 11 days till Christmas, but meh]

Now I'm sure that most of us have already dealt with this by now, but finding the perfect Christmas Tree can be a real pain in the neck. Either you got to shell out big bucks on a real tree, go out and hunt for a real one or deal with the hassle of putting together an artificial tree.

Oh, it isn't that bad. I found a good Douglas fir for about 10 bucks, easy to put up, we refill the water about once a couple of days. The real pain is- Oh, no, I don't wanna spoil it.

Spoiler Alert:
But everyone who's heard the song should know this anyways

This is where I beat the Pain. My grandparents own a Christmas tree farm and they pick out the best tree of the lot (of about 500 trees) and save it for us. Now paying you say? They give us ours for free~!

Topic's not meant to be good or bad, just a way to share experiences dealing with that "pain".

We haven't put our tree up yet. Gonna do that tomorrow. Too many issues happening here to worry about putting up a tree right now...

Oh, I remember the first quote on the VeggieTales Christmas countdown:

Quote:
The best part about owning an artificial Christmas tree is that, every year, it's like opening up a gigantic jigsaw puzzle that you've never seen before in your entire life.
I told it to my Dad. He agrees 100%.
We don't have our tree up yet, but we helped our Grandparents put theirs up. Judging by what the adults were saying, they were almost completely clueless on how to put it together.

So now we all have that elusive tree. But now it's time to decorate it. Gotta dig out last year's lights from storage....but where the heck did they go? After hours of searching, the elusive lights are finally found. Too bad they don't work! Time for a last minute drive to Wal-Mart for some lights.

Second Pain of Christmas: Rigging Up the Lights

Get to do this later on today...oh joy.

Our tree is pre-lit, so we don't have to worry about stringing them. The only downside is that the lights aren't colored..

Colored lights? Who needs 'em! I enjoy my bright yellow whiteish lights since they look simply regal and classy.

Although I do hate looking for lights that often do not work, Shade. :V

*lights a dozen matches and throws them at the thread*
Ah, the always-fun after-Christmas headache. You've got some sort of tat that your uncle Frank gave you that you were too lazy to go and return, and you overdosed on the 'nog last night. This is where most of the older patron of VR can relate, because the third pain of Christmas is, as we all know;

Hangovers.
