That's one of the reasons why you were not able to defeat the Elite 4 until you got help from your friend: you're supposed to try and raise all your team to an acceptable level so that you stand a chance against the Elite 4.

Oh, right.

SPOILERS
Go to Prof. Elm and get the S.S. Ticket, then Fly to Olivine City and go to the boat place (Be sure to talk to Prof. Oak to get the National Dex). The boat will then take you to Kanto. Just beat all the Gym Leaders (It can be in any order) then go to Pallet Town and talk to Prof. Oak in his lab. He'll grant you access to Mt. Silver, where Red is at the top. Since you've got some Lv. 100s, this should be an easy battle despite the fact this is the most powerful trainer you'll enconter.

Congrats for finally beating them Jared! I beat the game from the start to finish (Well after the E4 and Champion) in 18 hours and 42 minutes. I was really shocked at the time I beat it in.

I still haven't even been to Mt. Silver yet, let alone beat Red, so you're not alone.

And here I thought I was horrible for sending in Pokemon as underpowered as Lv. 36 against Lance.

I should go through E4 again before I go after the last two Kanto Badges. Want to beat Celadon/Viridian before my older bro's birthday in 2 days.
