Welcome to my first real review of any video game. Lets get started.

Starting up the game, you might notice something no other Kingdom Hearts game has...

That something
A cut scene upon starting the game.

The graphics for this game is really outstanding. I was actually expecting something lower than these graphics. I was really surprised and happy about these graphics.

The controls are fairly simple to use, it makes combat slightly easier than Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. You might not notice this right off the bat, but...
About the combat...
the combat system mixes Chain of Memories and 358/2 days combat make up.

Even though the controls are easy to pick up, its not easy enough for anybody to pick up where you left off and do any thing really good, or something of value.

What you will notice right off the bat is there is a lot of cut-scenes in the beginning of the game. Its just like chain of memories. I got kinda bored of sitting through the cut-scenes - and you can skip them if you want - but all those opening cut-scenes are of value to the story.

That is nothing more than a minor set back. What is very annoying is all of the load time. There is a load time for just about everything - every area, every special attack, even the forms take time to load up. I would say the only benefit to long load times for the forms is you get time to react to an attack that might be headed your way. I know I shouldn't complain about the load time, due to it being a new game (and all new games have load time), but there is just too much to let it slide.

The story itself is pretty short for each character. Yes. You can play as more than one character. In fact, you play as three different characters - each with their own story line. But even though the stories are different, they all are connected to each other. And you will have to play each story to figure out what is truly going on.

If you played Kingdom Hearts 2, Chain of Memories, or understood the story of FF7, you will see some familiar faces - mainly because this game takes place way before the 1st KH. I say "understood the story of FF7" because...
About FF7's connection
you find Zack in the Coliseum instead of Cloud

The music in this game is outstanding, as expected from a KH game. But, being on the PSP, I know it loses some of its greatness if you aren't playing with headphones/earphones in. I highly recommend you play this game with headphones/earphones in to hear the game's soundtrack to its fullest of value.

Even with all these ups, another down to this game is the voice acting. The voice acting is kinda bad, not as bad as the other KH games though. At times, its actually very good. But at other times, its down-right awful.

If you ever get bored with the main part of the game, you can spend some time playing some mini-games. There are quite a few of them too. One of which, is actually connected to your commands in the game. Although, the "Command Board" (is what the game I was talking about) takes some time to complete. So, if your in a rush, don't play that game.

Overall, this game is very well done and goes very deep with it's story. And you can find something to do always.

I give this game, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, a 8.8 out of 10. Game play is a dream, and the controls work with you most of the time. The only downside is the load time and the lag that comes with larger areas.

Review score individually:
Game play: 9 out of 10
Graphics: 9.6 out of 10 (due to lag in larger areas)
Voice acting: 7 out of 10
Controls: 8 out of 10
Playabilty: 9.5 out of 10
Soundtrack: 9 out of 10
Storyline: 8 out of 10 (because you visit other disney worlds, and have a completely different story in each of them)

It might be the type of your PSP. I was using the original type (because that is all I could afford).

Seems like a good score, I really wanna get this game...*awaits a PSP with a copy of it to fall out of the sky*
Also, about the load times, I hear saving the game to your PSP reduces loading times. =\

I bet it will, but I can't really do that because when I got my PSP and had to buy a memory stick, the best I could afford was one that had about 500 Mb on it, and the lowest install to your memory stick is 200 Mb... just so you can speed up in-game battles.

That's another thing I forgot to mention - when installing the game to your memory stick, it tells you what it speeds up.

None the less this game is still awesome but you really have to pay attention to understand it, like the part when Terra faces Zack my cousin didn't understand why you don't face Cloud instead which left me having to explain it for an hour...
