I wanna know who is planning on going and who is not,(why not?). I'm planning on going but I live in canada so I will be taking a plane to the nearest city hosting. Which means I need to save up to go. If you've gone before (wow) tell us all about your experience(s).

Well, considering no one knows exactly where they will be, you can't say for sure you're not going. For all anyone knows, it could be a really close city to you (i.e. It could be in Las Vegas)

Las Vegas? That would be awesome!

Yeah, but again, there's no way of telling where it might be. All we know is that it is going to be somewhere.

I wanted to go last year but driving 8 hrs to San Francisco didn't sound like much fun. Hopefully I can go this year.

But thats the championships not the qualifiers. PS its on some island that start with a W (I think Waikiki). So you could go watch or be in the worlds but you have to go to a qualifier and I'll tell you where they are when, when they say.

Also this year they're allowing for one non-event legendary on your team like you can have one Mewtwo on your team which will probably be used by nearly everyone.

Is that Legendary or Uber?

I might have a go at the qualifiers, but if I win I can't guarantee that I can go to Hawaii (We're sorta in a money crisis right now), so I'll probably give up my place to second. That is if I win. Which I won't. I wonder if you can use HG/SS, or other imported games? (My Diamond's from America... But my Platinum is UK)

Ningamer they pay for the trip and hotel and if you get first place in worlds then you get a scholarship. So you could be set for life if you won worlds.

Waikiki is not an island. But it IS on the island I'm on. Oahu.

Exactly, but thought it was more if you won.(A scholarship is money they give you for going to college/school.)

$1000 is between $500 and $7500, and they do say that prizes may vary.

Theses are the Japanese OFFICIAL rules for vgc but they may be the same here or pretty close.
POKEMON VGC 2010 RULES:

1. HEART GOLD/SOUL SILVER ARE THE GAMES BEING USED (they are being released in north america on 4/1/2010 exact date for those who don't know.)

2. Double Battle Cup

3. 4 pokemon in a battle

4. Pokemon lv. 1 through lv 100 are allowed (!)

5. Battles are at lv. 1-50. If the pokemon are above lv. 50, the game will auto level them down to lv. 50 for the battle. Moves will stay intact during the auto leveling. If a pokemon is under lv. 50, no change is made.

6. No two of the same pokemon can be used (species clause)

7. Item Clause is on, Soul Dew is banned.

8. BANNED POKEMON ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Mew
Celebi
Jirachi
Deoxys (all forms)
Phione
Manaphy
Darkrai
Shaymin
Arceus

9. You may use UP TO TWO UBERS PER TEAM (probably means Team Sheet as well). This means that you cannot have a team like Kyogre/Palkia/Dialga/Mewtwo. Non-banned Ubers are considered to be:

Mewtwo
Lugia
Ho-oh
Kyogre
Groudon
Rayquaza
Dialga
Palkia
Giratina

10. Any other pokemon may be used (this includes Tyranitar and all Rotom forms!)

11. A few move changes: Nature Power always results in Tri Attack; Secret Power has a one third chance of paralysis; using Camouflage means your pokemon becomes Normal type
