In the tall grass, Grunt's body was only covered by about half. Nanna, on the other hand, was barely above the surface; only her leaf at the top of her head protruded out. This made for a bit of an issue for Grunt, but he wasn't phased. In any case, he decided to build up his power. Dancing a frenetic dance, he acted like he had swords in his hands, hacking and slicing the tall grass. In doing the dance, he felt a major power boost flow into his veins.

Nanna was very concerned about how Grunt already managed a power boost. Nanna had to do something about this, or she'd be sliced in no time! She chopped a small slice from the tall grass and began to blow into it. The soft, tender melodies of the song she played made Grunt slowly but surely fall into a deep slumber...

Grunt looked at the Substitute doll, already a bit curious as to what the thing was. Whatever it was, it was important to keep at his goal in order to KO that Chikorita. Grunt widened his already huge pincers, and charged towards the doll ferociously. Slamming head on the substitute merely crumbled to his might, leaving Nanna fully exposed.

Grunt continued to assault Nanna with high-powered attacks that would slam her. Grunt, this time, found a nearby rock and crushed it to bits. These razor-sharp stones were hurled at Nanna at top speed. Try as she might to dodge the attack, the stones sliced her and left her cut all over. A lone wind passed by, provoking her wounds and leaving her stinging all over.

She wouldn't let the last attack go without retribution, so she began to conjure a toxic orb, which she hurled at Grunt. Grunt was splashed with the filthy toxin, and before he knew it, he soon began to feel unwell. Grunt had been poisoned!
