Spotted on Reddit today, the boys over at Super Fighter Team are in the midst of making the first Super Nintendo game for release in the United States in more than 15 years. This Run’n'Gun title has a tentative ship date of 2013 and demand has been so high that they have started taking pre-orders.

Super Fighter Team is a video game development, production and publishing company based in San Diego, California. “Our primary goal is to deliver high quality, entertaining game products that will provide countless hours of fun and excitement, being innovative all the while.” Says founder Brandon Cobb

Nightmare Busters is available for pre-order from their website. A pre-order is $68.00 and that includes shipping to anywhere in the U.S.. They will also ship it worldwide for $75 all through Paypal. And while it may be a bit pricey, if we can support these people to make these type of retro games, it might just inspire Blizzard to make a new Lost Vikings.

Sweet! We need more new Super Nintendo and Sega Megadrive/Genesis video games, like Pier Solar and Nightmare Busters. Big time. Why the hell aren't there more new age Retro games?

But seriously, "SNES" and "2013". My head JUST exploded.

WHAT. This is crazy. Who would've thought that the SNES would get a new game right when the Wii U is coming? I'm expecting this game to be really good, so this better be good.

For $75, it must really be aimed at people who want nostalgia for the SNES and must really be a high quality SNES game - which should be expected after so many years of not having a SNES game, leaving plenty of time to find out how to perfect a game meant for the SNES.

Personally, I'm not going to get it (due to lack of money and a Paypal account), but I might look into it on Youtube after it is released. Still a bit shocking that a team decided to go back in time for a game, rather than forward in time.

$75? High demand? Sounds like they tapped into a lucrative opportunity nobody would've thought of.
