As it gets dark, underwater neon lights will turn on; making the battle visible at night. Water pokemon are recommended for battling here. Here, water pokemon will have their speed increased by 1 and pokemon of different types other than Water will have their speed decreased by 1.

With the higher speed, Deluge went in for the first attack. Using its wings, it began to swirl around the water to create a spinning vortex of water. Wotty, who swam about in the water, was trying everything in its power to be freed from the whirlpool, but it was for naught: the otter couldn't do much as it pulled him in. But it wasn't the damage he was afraid of - it was the aftereffects! The incredible force of the water was twisting Wotty's body in and out of proportion.

Wotty was already at a disadvantage; barely able to move, Wotty had to struggle to move, and even then, the Oshawott may just end up right where he was before - at the base of the whirlpool. But as Deluge started to get close, he took his chance and whipped out two sharp shell blades. Deluge continued to run circles around it, but with much concentration, Wotty was able to land two direct hits...but what's this!? Deluge didn't feel a thing; in fact, it seemed to enjoy these attacks! Due to his own ability in Water Absorb, Wotty's Razor Shell only proceeded to help Deluge! This chance would come at a price - the Whirlpool began to deal its devastating aftereffects, twisting the Oshawott around and about, hurting its limbs!

Deluge saw this as his chance! With full health, the Mantine quickly spiraled down into the whirlpool where Wotty lay helpless and trapped. Deluge started to jump from side to side, increasing the Mantine's velocity by a great amount! Soon, Deluge was fast enough and began a spinning dive towards Wotty. Wielding its large, graceful wings, Deluge slammed them on the Oshawott, calling for quite a chunk of damage! Even better for the ray, it didn't cost much energy, either!

Wotty was getting tired of this, but the whirlpool wasn't letting up at all! Again, moving was a struggle, but after Deluge's attack, it would have to begin a slow ascent; thus, quick action was necessary. Using all the force that Wotty could build up within him, he rushed as fast as he could through the whirlpool and struck Deluge with his entire body. Unfortunately for the struggling Oshawott, Deluge shrugged the damage off without much issues, and continued to ascend above the whirlpool and back onto safe waters.

Deluge already had a serious advantage over his whirlpool-trapped opponent. With nowhere to run or hide, the huge ray jumped above the center of the whirlpool and fired an orb of water down towards the Oshawott. Success! It was a direct hit, slamming down on Wotty like a truck. But what's that? It hit harder than suspected; SCORE, Deluge thought, a critical hit! Still, Wotty was able to shrug it off without too many issues. But man, did it sting!

Wotty wasn't in any position to fight; he could barely move in this swirling water! Wotty saw Deluge running circles around him. Wotty knew what had to be done. He glared at the Mantine, who in turn stared right back at him.
"Hey, you freak!" Wotty shouted. "Why don't you stop being a scaredy-cat and attack me! C'mon, you're a big ray, but you can't even back it up with strong attacks! Pathetic!"
Deluge was enraged. "How dare he say such things! He'll pay for this!"

Deluge was furious. He began to swim faster and faster. There was no chance that he would let Wotty get away with such incredulous, belittling comments! He heard his trainer command an Aqua Ring; but if he did that, it would further prove Wotty's point, and he wouldn't have that!

Now was Wotty's chance! This next attack didn't require much movement, and Deluge was jumping up and over the Oshawott. Now was the time. He concentrated on the pattern of Deluge's movements while forming a cold beam within his hands. When the time was just right...bam! The cold beam connected with Deluge, leaving him cold!

Deluge swum around the slowly dying remnants of the whirlpool. He concentrated, staring intently at the Oshawott who had so shamelessly ridiculed him, making sure that he would deal serious damage to the otter. But, it was naught; by the time that his trainer commanded Confuse Ray, Deluge was totally zoned out!

Now was a good time as any to boost stats, Wotty thought. Pulling out his shell, he danced a frantic, quick dance in the water as the whirlpool began to die. The shell sharpened, and when it was sharp enough, Wotty ceased his dancing and flaunted the shell. Still, the tidal forces were strong here, but at least this would be the last time. Already, Wotty was getting used to it, so the loss of the whirlpool would be a welcome change in the situation.

Deluge was furious, still, but the rage in his eyes was cooling off a bit. Clearly, he thought, this Oshawott has some skill...but I won't let it go unpunished! Deluge began to pick up speed, then, when enough energy was built up, Deluge jumped up into the air with wings spread wide. He dived down, slamming Wotty with his large wing. The attack expelled Wotty from the water, who flew, dived, and fell into the water. "At last, redemption has been won!" Deluge thought, thoroughly satisfied.

Wotty resurfaced in time. Pulling out his newly sharpened shell blade, he swam towards Deluge with a serious intent to hurt. He slashed with his shell blade along the way, creating small slashes of water that seemed to do very little. Oshawott suddenly dived and picked up speed while underwater, only to come back up a few moments later, jumping way up in the air, and diving down, slashing at Deluge with incredible speed and velocity.

Finally, Deluge could focus totally on strategy now that his anger had fused out. The giant ray started making strange sounds, which escalated to an extremely high pitched scream that cut the air violently. The high pitch frequencies were too much for Wotty to handle, and soon, Wotty lost all his inhibitions and dizzied into confusion.

Wotty spun around in the water, with no sense of where he was. All he could see was a twisted mass of blur. No sign of any enemies here, Wotty thought in his confused mind. He ran circles, jumped in and out of the water, and even slashed at the water with his shell blade. He continued slashing until suddenly, he slashed something...what could it be? He continued slashing again and again and again. With each attack, it hurt. "I wonder why...?" Wotty wondered.

Deluge was ready to do some serious wrecking now! Deluge charged towards the struggling Oshawott, ready to slam into him head first. With grand speed and hard head, he slammed into Wotty, sending him flying in the air and back down again. It obviously didn't help that he had totally lost his bearings due to the confusion that Deluge caused.

Wotty lay in the water, belly up, exhausted and dizzy. Nauseated, Wotty was relieved to hear his trainer giving him a break turn. He floated in the water, resting. Much to his liking, he began to gain more energy to use. Though it didn't really help his headache.

Deluge was ready to deal the final blows. Enough toying with the otter, Deluge thought. Time to get serious. Deluge spread out his wings once again, swimming towards Wotty with great speed, aware that the otter was still dizzy with confusion. He struck the otter hard, slamming it out of the water and into the air.

Wotty spinned in confusion. His blurry vision was getting slightly better, but the aching, pounding headache that he had didn't let up one bit. He began to form an orb of water in his hands; Deluge was now at ease; for one of two things could happen; either Wotty struck himself, or Deluge could heal with Water Absorb. Wotty swam, lacking all bearings, and eventually fired the orb of water...into the air, where it came back down and slammed into Wotty's head.

Hurrah! Wotty's confusion had cleared up, so now was time for an assault! But this attack was not planned well; as Aqua Jet was a Water-type move, Deluge didn't take any damage, but rather, was healed by Wotty's attack!

Deluge was annoyed now; looked like Wotty's status ailment had healed. Deluge began to fill his mouth with a bunch of small, bullet-like seeds, which he spit out quickly. The first wave hit relatively normally; since the seeds were only nuisances, Wotty could deflect them; but time was running out!
First wave: (Oshawott: -4 Health // Mantine: -2 Energy)

Second wave didn't go as well for Wotty; the damage was getting too hard to bear, and his health was almost totally depleted!

Third wave seemed to last the longest; Wotty was slammed with bullet seeds to the head, and one particularly large seed knocked him out cold; not only was it a critical hit, but Wotty ran out of health.
