Jana was laying on the bed by herself. She was alone again tonight, and she hadnt seen her husband since three nights ago. It was frustrating not having any attention. She got up and started to wander around the house.
Don was studying in the speak- easy. He hadnt been paying attention to girl attempting to flirt with him. Don wasnt a bad looking man. In fact he was quite handsome despite his geeky persona.
Samuel was in his office as usual studying photographs. A murder broke out a few nights ago. The man murdered had gang affiliations, so it was his area of expertise. Samuel noticed a pattern in the recent murders and this one.
A shady man in a black hat and wool trench coat knocked at the door of the one room apartment. This wasn't a common thing, having a guest.
"Sir may I come in?" He said in a low voice, he looked around and came in without Max answering. He sat in a chair near the kitchenette and continued. "Alex was in a fight last night, he is gone now, Alex needs you take over his part. The shipments, handeling, EVERYTHING!"
I knew what he ment, it was plain to me. Alex Malone has died in fight, probably during a liquor import. He has died and wanted me to help. This I knew little about, all I knew was the Malones were dangerous, I had to do this, and Alex was killed by a Rachinello.
Jana kept whispering, "Don't drink the merchandise." She was so tired, that a bottle of Canadian liquor didn't seem bad. Moonshine was nice once in a while, especially seeing her father made it, but liquor was a rarity now.
Don looked up from his book. He had done alot of memorizing the few days. There was a young lady standing there. "Yes ma'am?" His voice trembled a little
Samuel notice three brasions on the arm. There were inconsistant, almost unrealistically perfect. Surgical tools were used to cut. Samuel looked at the other cases
Max buzzed beelines down the Chicago streets, he like the sites and sounds of it all, even the smell of cigar smoke and coffee were what he found nice. Chicago was the place for him, this is how he like it and now (because of the death) he was staying here forever. He was walking through the very busy streets and then there it was, the place he was needing to be... The Lake Michigan Harbor.
Jana decided to run out and drink a little. She knew all the speak- easies in this city. She grabbed her coat and headed out.
"I want you." The woman was drunk. "Ma'am, I'm not on the menu." Don was trying to ease her out of stuper. Don wasn't a ladies man.
"Did you work homicide?" Sam's face was continued to be buried in the reports.
She took me to a coffee shop to talk, dim lim for privacy.
"You're the replacement?" she said as if she didn't even care if Alex had just died. "I talked it over with my boss and we find it you would be better in... Showbizz..." took me a minute to figure it out but she wanted me to kill people! "wait what!" I proclaimed, she kicked me with here with her hard as rock boot. "You will not be working at the harbor! You have to do take care of people." what other option was there! I have been in this mess for about 6 hours now and coming from an observant guy, you have to do as they say.
Jana arrived at a speak-easy from the Tolli family. The Tollis weren't a major family, just an intergrating family. The were part of the Malones now.
Don looked at the woman with a stupid look. She wasn't even stable enough to stand. "I think you should stop drinking." Don tried to be sweet but stern.
Sam looked at the laceration in the photo. "If you were being whipped, why wouldn't you fight back?" Samuel turned his attention to the young man. "Answer me that."
Janis:
Janis stormed out of the ole coffee shop. What did she care? If Alex died, he died. Inside this did make Janis feel a little sad but she couldn't show fear! Fear is a weakness and Janis Williams hadn't a weakness! This did stay heavy in her mind, how did he die? Was it for a purpose? Was it an issue? These are the thing that made her want to get out of the Malons thing! But this is what she had to do, to get away from her past...
Max:
Max wasn't sure what to think. What, what was he supposed to do now? What was the purpose of the switch, he thought. Was Janis his boss? Well he didn't let this bother him, it was time to go home, go home and relax about this all. But could he relax with such a big load on him! Gah, this caused frustration. But what ever.
One Max's way to his apartment a black car with tinted windows pulled up and he was dragged in there.
Jana went out of the the speak-easy drunker than hell. She was stumbling and hiccupping down the city streets.
Don realized it was time to get to class. He rushed toward another bartender. "Gotta go." Then Don left to go off to the college.
Sam kept staring at the photos. Then he ran after George. "I'm going to send down some back-up."
"There is a bed and a couch. You get the couch. If you get in the bed you are likely to lose blood, and trust me you don't want to know where it's going to come from." Ashley stared him down. She wasn't going to sleep on the couch. "And you touch me, you die. Got it." She smiled faintly.
Ashley started to talk to herself. "He does realize that I'm not joking, but he's not going to get another room?" Ashley shrugged and went in. She wasn't tired but for some reason she wanted to bathe. She wasn't surprised that the lock didn't work, or that the bottom of the tub had wax. This hotel was common for lovers.
Max :
In the car Max was dazed, what was he doing here? There was a dirty, bloody, burlap bag over his head.
"What were you doing there?"
"I was telling Janis about how her uncle had died!" I had to make up something fast.
"Why wouldn't she have know that!"
"Because she was unable to b e reached!"
"Why are you lying!"
"Im not!" Then everything went blurry and I went to sleep.
