I'm sure a handful of us on the populated east coast were in the path of the hurricane. For those that were affected by the storm, tell us your stories! Did you witness any severe weather firsthand? Experience any property damage?

As for myself, I wasn't affected at all since I'm all the way here in California

Well I'm making this post right now so unless I'm a zombie, or a ghost, I'm still alive.

Although in my town some idiot decided to get his canoe out into the streets and it capsized and he died.

Why would he get his canoe out to the street?

My house got hit by a bolt of lightning. The only damage it did was psychologically, and it increased my fear of the dark.

May Kaorto forever Rest in Peace.

I hope everyone's okay, though. I haven't really heard or seen anything on the news about it, so it doesn't seem like it was a huge disaster.

I live in Arizona, so while you might think we were still in the dead heat during this hurricane, we actually had a few pretty good rainstorms like this last Friday, which is probably what was left of Irene. That's usually why we have monsoon season in late July and August.

I really doubt that =P
Here's Irene's historical path.

Right, I see that now. In that case, there could have been some smaller storm that made its way over to Arizona by Friday. I actually skipped Geoscience in high school, so I'm actually pretty terrible at keeping up with weather. Science is one of my weaker subjects, really (and yet I'm really strong at math. Could I be more academically polar to A'bom?)

Even worse: according to Washington Post, the National Hurricane Center declared that the Atlantic hurricane season will reach its peak two weeks away from now, around September 10. And yes, from what I understood over here, there seems to be another hurricane on the way.

While the hurricane died out by the time it came all the way up here, my cousin, who's currently in college at SUNY New Paltz, was hit. Nothing too major, just some flooding. Apparently a few people there went kayaking in the streets.
