Left 4 Dead is my favorite game right now. I've enjoyed Left 4 Dead 2 as well.

L4D1 plot:

4 survivors making it out alive from zombie meyhem

L4D2 plot:

basically the same but with 3 more types of zombies and different characters with melee weapons

I really liked Left 4 Dead 2's kind of bust-in-guns-blazing sort of feeling. I have yet to try the first, but I'll probably like it. Ellis is my favorite.

I play this game all the time

I am in love with this game sooo very much~ I really wish I owned my own copy of it for my lappy perhaps but when I have played it at my father's house, I'm hooked for hours and hours. It's one of those games that no matter how much you replay the levels, it obviously does not get boring for each new play-through is different. I love all the characters too, they are each unique and quirky and silly in their own ways. :3 Haha but the melee weapons in L4D2 are highly amusing.... especially the guitar, frying pan and other silly things.

I've yet to play Left 4 dead, but I love the characters. Ellis, Nick, and Louis are the best.
